Lauren Hunter The review of The Promise

The Promise

Even at a young age Anthony knew lady Marianne was the woman for him. They had fun, talked, danced, you could say soul mates. When she dies in an accident, Anthony doesn't do to well with the tragedy. He knows he can never love another. So he goes from one women to another and builds a reputation of a rake. Several years later, like 18, he is at a party and sees a woman, Lady Elizabeth. She is lovely and for some reason he is very drawn to her. He wants to get to know her. He asks her  to dance. They dance and he puts on his charm. She starts to fall for him. Until she finds out that he is known as a womanizer and has a fiancee. She is made to look a fool and her reputation is now tarnished, she believes beyond repair. Anthony's fiancee loves another and breaks the engagement, which was OK by him anyway. His sights are set on Lady Elizabeth. Lady Elizabeth wants nothing to do with Anthony.  Now it is his job to prove to her his intentions are good and he is over being with any other women and to find out why he is so drawn to her. Anthony's family has not seen him like this since Lady Marianne. Is there a connection between the 2 women? Will Anthony be able to prove his worth to the young Lady Elizabeth, or will danger come between the 2 again?

This is a period piece. Horse and buggies, ladies, gentlemen, where a reputation tainted can end any hopes of a good life. Elizabeth has already lost much but is a lady and is just getting into society. The attraction between the two is great but Elizabeth is too embarrassed and shamed to associate with Anthony. As his family is high society and takes her under there wings, he starts to get her to see him in a new light. I enjoyed the story. It is not to long but long enough to realize that there is more to the story that meets the eye. Enjoyable easy read, that makes you believe in love will find a way. If it is meant to be it will be.  This story is suitable as a YA book. I recommend 14 and up.

The giveaway is for this book and The Coffee Shop. Both are really good books. Come on and try for this great giveaway. Winners to be announced Saturday morning!  Good Luck!!
