Into the Dark is a thrilling, mind boggling book about a
teenage girl named Emily. Emily, since her thirteenth birthday, has
been plagued by black- outs that send her into the confusing world of
the unconscious state. She goes to St. Meril's college for the first
time. She meets a handsome "right side of the tracks" boy named Henry
who she instantly falls for. She later learns about the G&T team, a
group of gifted and talented people chosen to venture into the complex
enigma that is the human mind. As she settles in to her new life as a
G&T team member, she learns all of her team members abilities. She
is shocked to find out that her boyfriend is not exactly who he says he
is. They later learn that, Irene, Emily's aunt and a member of the
G&T team, has been trapped inside the dream-state world. The G&T
team dive into the elusive maze of the unconscious and rescue a weary
Irene from the dead eyed Misery- Makers.
I give this book a four and a half out of five stars. I did not like that it was in four parts. I
would have enjoyed it better if there were more in depth descriptions of
the team and the unconscious state. I enjoyed the story a lot. I loved the title. I thought the title
really fit in to the idea of venturing into the enigmatic human mind. I
recommend this book to ages fifteen to twenty-five.
