Caddy Rowland grew up in the Midwest with a stack of books that almost reached the ceiling before she was five. Books, along with her vivid imagination, have always been some of her closest friends.
She lives in Minnesota with her husband, who was her high school sweetheart. They are owned by two parrots. Besides being a writer, she is an artist. One can often find her "makin' love to the color" (painting) with loud music blaring.
Her goal as an author is to make readers laugh, cry, think, and become intimately connected with her main characters. She writes dramatic novels showcasing the sublime joy and bitter tragedy of being human.
It is dark, sad, upsetting, heartwarming, funny and always thought-provoking. There are a few blatantly cruel scenes and some extremely tender ones. The series tackles social issues such as class struggle, homelessness, the quest for power, bigotry, family secrets, and shows how one man's choices effect others for generations to come.
Be prepared for an extremely emotional read. Yes, at times the characters will upset you. You will love, hate, pity, respect, disrespect and cheer for them. Just like in any family, no one is perfect. Their personality warts are fully displayed. You will grow to feel like a part of the Beauchamps, and when the series is over the characters will stay alive in your mind for weeks.
Come along and join the family. Let them tell you their story. I think you will find the ride unlike any you've taken before.
*This series is meant for adults. As such, it contains adult scenes and themes.

ReplyDeleteI've never read any of Caddy Rowland but I may have to start. I love family saga and this series sounds like it's a good one. I'm currently reading “Mofongo” by Cecilia Samartin, http://www.ceciliasamartin.com/, another good family saga book you might like! Thanks for the recommendation and info, I'm going to go give the series a look!
