Interview with Mina Khan

Welcome to JBR.  Today we have Mina Khan with us.

We are having a giveaway going on for March. What item are you giving away? (Anyone can win the item by going to the rafflecopter on the right hand side of the pg.)

An ebook and $5 gift card

First why don't you tell us a little about yourself?

MINA: I’m a Texas-based writer of sexy paranormal romance, fantasy and adventure.  I’m also a food enthusiast and write a weekly food column for my local newspaper. Originally from Bangladesh, I’m now a proud West Texan.

My first published work, The Djinn's Dilemma, won the novella category of the 2012 Romance Through The Ages (published) contest. A Tale of Two Djinns won the 2013 Readers’ Crown for best paranormal romance.

Newest release?

MINA: My most recent release is Wildfire: A Paranormal Mystery with Cowboys & Dragons.

Wildfire

What can we expect from your stories, action, drama, romance, sex, blood and guts?

MINA: I write about djinns (genies), dragons, hunks and whatever else sparks my fancy. As such, you’ll find magic, mayhem and mischief…and, yes, romance in my stories. I have a lot of fun writing them.

The Djinn's Dilemma

Do you have a favorite character in your stories? Who? and Why?

MINA: My favorite character in every story is my heroine because they do and say things I wish I could, lol. Sarah Jasmine White, the heroine from my first published work “The Djinn’s Dilemma” will always be a favorite because she was the first. Also because she’s pretty cool. A reporter in Texas, she’s reasonable and logical, ethical, and a strong person. Plus, she makes a super sexy djinn assassin fall in love with her. As you can tell, she’s got a lot going for her. J

How about your least favorite character? What makes them less appealing to you?

MINA: The villain…because my villains always have a part to them that has me hoping they’ll turn out to be good. So they end up disappointing me in every story.

Give us an interesting fun fact or a few about your book or series:

MINA: All my stories have an Asian twist. My genie romances are based on djinn mythology I grew up with in Bangladesh. My dragon heroine in Wildfire is Japanese American and I had fun working with Japanese myths.

Has there been any other authors who have inspired your work or helped you out with your stories?

MINA: Yes! I started writing because I fell in love with stories as a reader. There are many authors I’m grateful for, but to keep it short: Marjorie M. Liu, Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs, Sharon Shinn.

What can readers who enjoy your book do to help make it successful?

MINA: Please review and tell your family and friends about my stories.

Do you have any tips for readers or advice for other writers trying to get published?

MINA: Never give up. Never surrender your dream.

Do you have a favorite author? If yes, what draws you to that person’s work?

MINA: Marjorie M. Liu. Her stories and characters have a lot of depth and complexity. And she explores the idea of shapeshifters, magic and powers in very interesting ways.

Can you remember one of the first things you wrote? What makes it memorable?

MINA: Lol, yes. It was a very philosophical poem about a gong that rang in the middle of the night. It was also my first published work (I was in the third grade and it was chosen for my school yearbook), so definitely memorable. J

Where do you gather most of the inspiration for your work?

MINA: The universe, the world, my dreams.

Do you have any other interesting hobbies, pets or stories you would like to share?

MINA: I have three dogs (all from the shelter) and three cats (all found) and I can’t say enough good things about rescue pets. Love ‘em! Also, I dress up in period costume and renaissance dance for fun.

Favorite places to travel or visit?

MINA: I’m a global nomad and love traveling…so, anywhere and everywhere.

And now, before you go, how about a snippet from your book that is meant to intrigue and tantalize us:( Include links to where we can find your work):

WILDFIRE Blurb: Lynn Hana Alexander is a 25-year-old Japanese American shape-shifter haunted by guilt. She’s been questioning herself and her dragon abilities ever since she failed to save her grandmother.

When her best friend is threatened by mysterious fires burning up acres of West Texas, Lynn rushes to the rescue determined not to fail again. However, with a tempting firefighter, a flirty city developer and dragon pheromones distracting her, how is she going to find the arsonist?

And worse: is her primary suspect a malicious rogue dragon or the love of her life?

An Excerpt from my new release, Wildfire: A Paranormal Mystery with Cowboys & Dragons

Fear incinerated sleep, left her mouth tasting of ash.

Lynn Alexander’s parched throat ached. Her mind plucked at reason. She’d been dreaming of fire again. Wild, angry flames. Billowing smoke. A faint voice pleading for help. Through it all, someone –something– watched her. Waited.

“Come here.” Another voice, dark and intimate, had commanded from the depths of the fire. “Come here, little girl.”

Then a man’s face emerged from the smoke and flames. Strong and grim with rugged angles, sensuous lips and intense green eyes that glittered with blistering heat.

Panic pressed on her windpipe. Lynn wrenched her head sideways, blinked back tears and stared at the pebbled texture of the wall next to her bed.  Ragged breath caught in her lungs and she focused on the present to escape the grasping remnants of the dream. She tuned in to the soft swish of the fan, the quiet roar of the air conditioner, the wild thrashing of her heart.

A nightmare. The same damn nightmare she’d been having all week. An insidious whisper echoed in her head: Not a dream. A vision.

Like before, like when her grandmother died.

Dread rolled through her, cold and certain.

Who was the mysterious man? The person in trouble or the murderer she hunted? A prickly knowing grew inside her, jamming at the base of her throat. The tightness turned needle sharp, and then popped. A single thought formed: Save Jen.

Tangled in bed sheets, she twisted around to snatch her cell from the nightstand. The clock blinked three a.m. in poison green numerals. Jen would be mega-pissed if the phone woke her at this ungodly hour in the middle of the work week for no reason. Worry itched between Lynn’s shoulder blades. But what if this was a true warning? She’d rather risk her best friend’s wrath than her life.

Clutching the phone, she speed dialed Jen. No answer. Pick up the phone. Pick up the damn phone.

After six rings, she snapped the phone shut and threw off the covers. Lynn leapt out of bed, and stripped out of her sweaty clothes. She grabbed the backpack she always kept ready by her bedside, shoved the phone into a front pocket, and slipped her arms into the extra-long straps. She knew she shouldn’t risk exposure, but she had to get to Jen. Protect her from whatever danger threatened.

Naked, she rushed to the French doors and threw them open. The cool October breeze embraced her and dried the sweat clinging to her skin. She stared into the night, glad of the darkness. Being one of the rare shape-shifters in the family garnered her a room with rooftop access. Closing her eyes, she inhaled the dank smell of the bayou and summoned the change.

Heat crackled across her skin, filled her mind, as blue-green scales rippled over her body giving her tan a bronze sheen. Lynn’s core dissolved to molten lava, reformed and hardened. Muscles stretched and grew stronger, bones pushed and molded flesh. Nubs emerged from her back, elongated and flared into wings. A deep burn spread from her gut, igniting cell after cell, until she shook like a live wire juiced on raw power.

Her leathery wings flailed behind her as she stumbled around a bit before settling into the new weight. One would think a five foot one and half-inch Asian American woman would transform into a delicate, miniature-poodle type of dragon. Not so. In dragon form, Lynn was seven feet of sharp scales, sinuous muscle and steely strength.

Review of The Fangirl's Dream by Fierce Dolan

The Fangirl's Dream by Fierce Dolan

What is a girl to do when she is head over heels in love with a character from a TV show? Only one thing you can do, contact Madame Eve and her 1Night Stand dating service to see what she can do .....

I love the 1NS stories and am always excited to read them. This one is slightly different as only Siler has written in to Madame Eve, but then Farraj can't as he is fictional!! Siler is a huge fan of a TV show called Endangered and is captivated by the character of Farraj. I wasn't sure how this was supposed to go as she wanted a date with a fictional character and when I first realised she was IN the show I was a bit incredulous, especially as she kept telling him what was going on with all the other characters and basically giving him spoilers. But, when the date was over, I thought the way the ending was written was actually very good. It could have very easily gone wrong but it really didn't. It isn't my favourite 1NS story but is still worth a read, especially if you love TV ;-)

I would give this 4 1/2 out of 5 stars

Review of Protection by Linda Rettstatt

Review of Blessed Homecoming by Lorraine Nelson

Blessed Homecoming by Lorraine Nelson

Wendy Danforth goes back home to her parents after getting a divorce. Arriving home her parents find out the Wendy had neglected to mention they would be grandparents in the very near future. Whilst Wendy settles back into her childhood home and prepares to become a mother herself she also has to contend with a drifter her parents have taken in to do odd jobs. Is Jake taking advantage of her parents good nature, and what is he running from? All becomes clear as Wendy finds her ex husband doesn't want to take the divorce lying down!

One thing I need to tell readers is that this is quite a Christian book with frequent references to God. If you are not a believer (like me) or have a different religion this may not be for you. Although I have to say I did enjoy the story, yes there were a few parts that were just slightly too much of a co-incidence, or the hand of God, depending or your beliefs, but sometimes you have to let these go, it is fiction. I like the character of Wendy, you might think that moving home, pregnant with a failed marriage makes her a weak person but actually I think it took a lot of strength and she shows that. Especially when when threatened by her ex-husband. And Jake's character is also very interesting, he has lost his faith in God and tries very hard to keep his attraction to Wendy a secret, scared of reliving his past, and it does take quite a lot of the book for the full story to come out so I am trying not to give things away. You might also be forgiven for thinking that this is a nice cosy romance and although to some extent it is, and I was definitely left with warm fuzzy feelings, there was also a good bit of drama and I was left wondering until quite late how Jake would decide he wanted to go on with his life.

A good read 4 out of 5 stars

Interview with Cathy MacDonald

Welcome to JBR.  Today we have Cathy MacDonald with us.

We are having a give away going on for March. What item are you giving away? (Anyone can win the item by going to the rafflecopter on the right hand side of the pg.)

I am giving a $10 gift card

First why don't you tell us a little about yourself?

I am a business woman, former school teacher, wife, mother, and grandmother. We run an RV dealership with about 30 employees. I live way up in the mountains surrounded by the beauty of Nature, and have affectionately named our house, The Retreat.

Newest release?

The Divorce Ranch

The Divorce Ranch

What can we expect from your stories, action, drama, romance, sex, blood and guts?

There’s romance, some sex, although years ago I promised my own children I wouldn’t be graphic. This particular novel includes a great deal of history about the divorce era.

Do you have a favorite character in your stories? Who? and Why?

In The Divorce Ranch, Dorothy is my favorite. She was a screen actress in the 1930s, and fought the societal conventions of how “good girls” were supposed to behave. She believed what was good enough for men was good enough for women.

How about your least favorite character? What makes them less appealing to you?

Again, in The Divorce Ranch there are several vacant, plastic women who were placed to mirror the attitudes of the women who had embraced the fact that women had the vote, times were changing, and you didn’t have to be stuck in the kitchen with your apron on. (I have a huge disdain for vacant, plastic, pretentious women.)

Give us an interesting fun fact or a few about your book or series:

In 1936 people were beginning to wise up about Hitler’s antics. As Lily says at dinner, “But what do you think about this Hitler chap? I’ve heard some pretty disturbing things from people who have traveled over to Germany. They say he’s eliminated his government partners and the whole country is socialist. My friend told me he’s after the Jews, which doesn’t set well with me.”

Has there been any other authors who have inspired your work or helped you out with your stories?

Yes. I am an avid reader. Some of my favorite books come from Anne Morrow Lindbergh, Madeline L’Engle, Anne Tyler, Wally Lamb, Julia Cameron, Alice Hoffman

What can readers who enjoy your book do to help make it successful?

Have a book group where you can read and discuss the book, the setting, and the political times.

Do you have any tips for readers or advice for other writers trying to get published?

As a reading specialist, I always remind people of the three levels of reading: Instructional (in class, learning a new concept), Independent (I like to think of beach reads.  Pure fun) Frustrational (way over your head. For me, Calculus) Find something that interests you to read; don’t worry about what your friends read. Writing is a skill.  The more you practice any skill the better you become. There are critics everywhere and don’t let them impede your goal of getting published. (if that’s a goal) Remember, many times critics are frustrated artists.

Do you have a favorite author? If yes, what draws you to that person’s work?

Hmm. Too many to list. I have a library with probably over 1000 books, plus the ones on my Kindle. I wouldn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings.

Can you remember one of the first things you wrote? What makes it memorable?

Yes. I wrote a play when I was ten. I produced it, and then charged people admission. And guess what? They came.

Where do you gather most of the inspiration for your work?

Life. I have a saying on my computer at work that says, “Careful…or you’ll be in my novel.”

Do you have any other interesting hobbies, pets or stories you would like to share?

Hobbies: I love to hike and ride my bike. I also practice yoga. I have a five-year-old labradoodle who comes to work with me. (I own the business.) And she rides in my granddaughter’s car seat in the back seat of my car. I love to look at people’s faces when I pull up next to them at a stoplight. They see Lulu sitting in the car seat and they always break into a wide smile. I’m that crazy woman with the dog in the car seat.

Favorite places to travel or visit?

I love France, the food, the wine, and the history. I love exploring old castles and sitting in quaint squares drinking the local wine.

From the book:
“The rules are different for men and women. We are supposed to behave while men can have all the fun.” Dorothy glanced over and could tell he was still having a problem with the concept. “You’ve experienced my desire for sex. I feel it’s healthy and important for everyone, not just men. My husband couldn’t satisfy me, so I looked to someone else and when my producer found out, he threw a fit. Then my husband said he was hurt and demanded a divorce, even though he was carrying on with his own affair. Why is it only men can have what they want?”
Jed turned into the small dirt parking lot. “Now, I’m just a simple cowboy, but I don’t understand why a beautiful, successful actress such as yourself would allow others to tell you how to run your life. It just don’t seem right.” He parked and turned off the engine.
“Hmm. I can’t answer that. Unfortunately, I’m owned by the studio. They tell me what to do, who to marry, and what clothes to wear, and where I’m to be seen when I’m not on the lot.” She laughed. “They would not want me at this bar.”
“What would they do if they found you here?”

Interview with Dominique Eastwick

We are having a give away going on for March. What item are you giving away? (Anyone can win the item by going to the rafflecopter on the right hand side of the pg.)

I will be giving away $10 AMAZON gift card.

First why don't you tell us a little about yourself?

I currently call North Carolina home with my husband, two children, one crazy lab, and one lazy cat. I spent much of my early life moving from state to state as a Navy Brat. Because of that, traveling is one of my favorite past times. When not writing, you can find me behind the lens of my camera.

Newest release?

Kissing the Tycoon is the second Sherman Cousins short story and the 5th in the Sherman Family series.

Kissing the Tycoon

What can we expect from your stories, action, drama, romance, sex, blood and guts?

A lot of romance and some steamy sex, But without the sex you still have a strong love story with a little humor to boot.

Do you have a favorite character in your stories? Who? and Why?

I love the Rowan siblings and Rekkus from The Wiccan Haus series there is so much depth to them and so much more left to tell.

How about your least favorite character? What makes them less appealing to you?

JC from Hunting JC , it’s the first book I wrote but she isn’t as strong a heroine as my other stories. I can relate least to her.

Give us an interesting fun fact or a few about your book or series:

The Sherman’s love a the Red Sox and Jimmy Buffet. But Tony’s Wife likes neither.

Has there been any other authors who have inspired your work or helped you out with your stories? I was inspired by a lot of authors. Stephanie Laurens and Julia Quinn but its those who I have worked with that truly deserve kudos. Valerie Mann, Kate Richards, and Elizabeth Silver.

What can readers who enjoy your book do to help make it successful?

Tell their friends and leave positive feedback on Goodreads, Amazon, BN and Itunes.

Do you have any tips for readers or advice for other writers trying to get published?

I recommend getting into a readers group that doesn’t involve friends or family you need someone to give you honest feedback.  Also check out the Aspiring Romance Writers Blog. Its got good information for anyone looking to write, no matter what your genre. http://theaspiringromancewriters.blogspot.com/

Do you have a favorite author? If yes, what draws you to that person’s work?

I have a ton but Julia Quinn I just love and it’s the humor in her writing that I love so much.

Can you remember one of the first things you wrote? What makes it memorable?

Yes it was a historical that will never EVER see the light of day.

Where do you gather most of the inspiration for your work?

Honestly the ideas for my books can come at the oddest times. The stop light seems to be the most common for ideas to come. No idea why.
Do you have any other interesting hobbies, pets or stories you would like to share? I love photography and if you travel with me you will find me on my back or climbing over things just to get a good angle for a pic.
Favorite places to travel or visit? Ireland. I just loved that country and her people.

And now, before you go, how about a snippet from your book that is meant to intrigue and tantalize us:( Include links to were we can find your work)

Review of A Home for Jesse by Iyana Jenna

A Home for Jesse by Iyana Jenna

Jesse leaves his home fed up of being second best. He moves to Hollywood with dreams of making it big but with one failed relationship behind him he is about to be evicted from his home. Why is the star of his show suddenly talking to him and are his offers of help genuine?

This book is hard to rate, one one hand I did quite enjoy it but on the other there were quite a lot of facts left out and I had to make assumptions. Lets start with Trey the star of the show. He finds himself fantasizing about Jesse rather than a girl but despite the fact he doesn't want to tell his best friend he doesn't seem to have a problem with it. Is he gay? Bi? As a Hollywood star does he not have to hide that? Then there is his best friend Brent. Brent seems hell bent on getting between Trey and Jesse but is it because he doesn't want he best friend outed as being gay, because he thinks Jesse is going to get in the way of their friendship or because he wants Trey for himself?

Jesse himself seems very sweet, I like his character and love the way he takes nothing, including money for granted, although again he seems to have no issues being gay, whilst this IS good, it is very unusual in a Hollywood setting when you are trying out for major roles.

Finally this book does not contain any actual descriptions of sex. Now this not necessary I am totally fine with that being left to the imagination, the problem is that towards the end of the book I do start to wonder if they have had any at all. Again when you don't know if this is Trey's first relationship with a man you would have thought there would have been a big build up, or at least some kind of afterthoughts.

I think I would have to rate this at 3 1/2 stars

Review of Milk, Turkey and Neurosis by Grace Feldman

Milk, Turkey and Neurosis
by Grace Feldman

Gracie is a typical young woman looking for love. In today's time a lot of people have been going to the internet to try to find love. That is exactly what Gracie does. This is a story of Gracie going through the many ups and downs of dating life. That would be funny by itself but there's more. Gracie's mom has embarrassed her from when she is young to the present. She is forever worrying about what she is going to do next because she knows she will do something.  Now with Thanksgiving approaching and her mother thinks she is dating someone new (a lie to stop a lecture). She now has to find a date for the big day. Date after date goes horrible wrong. With each date going badly, they also bring about memories of horrible dates as a teen. Here friends Jennifer and Herbie come along for the ride.
This is a fun ride through Gracie's dating life. The story is comical, full of trouble and turmoil. Her mother is hilarious but you feel the love she has of her daughter. The story is well written and it is great for a lite non-serious read. Life comes full circle and teaches some life lessons to Grace. Good comical story age appropriate for YA.

Absolutely loved this book.  Once I started reading it I couldn't put it down.  I fell in love with the characters & the story line..I couldn't wait to see what was gonna happen next.  The characters are so real you seemed to really connect  with  them.  I found myself feeling the sadness, frustration, & triumph with them.  I was a little surprised with the ending, but excited to learn there's another book after this one.  This is the first book I've read by this author and I can't wait to read more...Waiting very impatiently for her next book...Cade's story :)

I rate this book 5 stars

As Sara was talking to Jo Ann she felt someone standing very close behind her, so close she could feel the warmth emanating from his or her body. Then she heard a low deep voice right next to her ear.
“I’m sorry you lost the lot and have to sleep on the floor but you’re more than welcome to come share my bed.”
Sara shivered from the feel of his warm breath against her neck and let out a small gasp. Turning around she looked straight up into those emerald green eyes, eyes that were looking deep into hers as if he was trying to ferret out all her secrets. The top of her head just reached his shoulders.
“Defiantly 6’4””
“Excuse me?” She asked
He grinned cheekily down at her.
“I offered you a place to sleep, of course I’d be in bed with you and I don’t think we’ll be doing much sleeping.” He replied

Interview with Eva Scott

We are having a give away going on for March. What item are you giving away? (Anyone can win the item by going to the rafflecopter on the right hand side of the pg.)
A Barbarian Bride ebook.

First why don't you tell us a little about yourself?
I’m your typical late bloomer! While I’ve written in one form or another forever I didn’t come to novel writing seriously until I got pregnant at 43. While on maternity leave I thought ‘It’s now or never’. And the rest is history…
  Newest release?
Barbarian Bride
Barbarian Bride – the second book in my Romancing the Romans series (Harlequin Escape).
What can we expect from your stories, action, drama, romance, sex, blood and guts?
All of the above!  My heroines are feisty and independent, my heroes are hunky and everyone gets into a fight or two.
Do you have a favorite character in your stories? Who? and Why?
The heroine from Barbarian Bride started as a minor character in my first book, The Last Gladiatrix.  Klara was so fierce and vibrant.  I loved her.  So did my editor who asked me to tell Klara’s story and so Barbarian Bride was born.
How about your least favorite character? What makes them less appealing to you?
Tough question. Claudia is a character who appears in both books and is a scheming, nasty piece of work.  She’s completely a-moral and just a little bit mad.  Her lack of compassion and complete selfishness make her completely unappealing.
Give us an interesting fun fact or a few about your book or series:
The really super fun thing about researching Ancient Rome is the uncanny similarity between their world and hours.  They had apartment buildings, crude watches, expensive household insurance bills… it’s the odd things that resonate and remind me that time, distance, culture might separate us all but on some fundamental level the human experience remains the same.
Has there been any other authors who have inspired your work or helped you out with your stories?
Tea Cooper has been a tremendous help as my critique partner.  She has a lovely story set in Ancient Greece.  She keeps me honest.
What can readers who enjoy your book do to help make it successful?
Leave a review on Amazon would be lovely!
Do you have any tips for readers or advice for other writers trying to get published?
Practice and persistence.  I found some advice I got from a publisher in their rejection letter to be the best I’ve ever received.  I went and made the changes and ended up with a publishing contract (from someone else I hasten to add).  Taking critique can be hard but often it will make your work stronger.
Do you have a favorite author? If yes, what draws you to that person’s work?
I have several.  Isabelle Allende was a huge influence growing up.  And there’s not a year that goes by when I don’t revisit Jane Austen.
I think a well-crafted character will earn my loyalty even if the plot line doesn’t live up to expectations.
Can you remember one of the first things you wrote? What makes it memorable?
A poem about a carrot.  I was five years old and it ended up in the school annual.  Never underestimate the power of the carrot.
Where do you gather most of the inspiration for your work
News articles online or in the newspaper.  I’ll read a story and wonder what led the people to this point and what might have been different.
Do you have any other interesting hobbies, pets or stories you would like to share?
I love paddle boarding and yoga.  I haven’t reached the point where I’ve combined the activities but it’s a complete possibility.
Favorite places to travel or visit?
Adore Italy and Hawaii.  Hawaii especially keeps drawing me back.  Cinnamon’s in Kailua make the best breakfasts in the whole entire world – if not the Universe.

Excerpt –
Settling back, Klara surveyed the room for the candidate most likely to know Lucius Aurelius.  With so many unwashed, bearded rascals to choose from it was hard to pick.  Finally her gaze alighted on a burly old man whose eyes reminded her of Lucius.  Abandoning the revolting beer she made her way cautiously to where the man sat alone.  He was intent on a dish of stew and didn’t notice her approach.  Klara stood before him, awkward in her uncertainty of what to do next.
She cleared her throat.  The man shovelled another spoonful of stew in his mouth and did not look up.  She tried again, a little louder this time, and still the man ignored her.  Sliding her knife from its sheath Klara slammed the point down into the table where it quivered menacingly.  The spoon stopped half way to the old man’s mouth.  He looked up under busy eyebrows and regarded her for a long moment before the spoon continued its journey.  Chewing slowly he simply sat and looked at her.
Klara put her hands on her hips.  Now she had the man’s attention starting a conversation about Lucius seemed even harder than she thought it would be.  The man lowered his gaze, scooping up another spoonful of stew, and she found herself dismissed.
“Hey!” she slammed both her hand down on the table.  “I want to talk to you.”
“So talk.” The fact he didn’t bother to look up infuriated Klara.  The man has no manners— and they call Hun barbarians.
“I’m looking for a man.”
He looked up then.  “Really?”  Pushing the bowl away he leaned back in his chair, letting his eyes roam over the curves of her body.  “I’d be happy to oblige.”
Klara swept the empty bowl off the table with the back of her hand.  It clattered on the floor and rolled under the table.  Her chest heaved with suppressed anger.
“Might I suggest you would do better with men if you tempered your aggression?  So unattractive in a woman.”
Klara wrenched the knife out of the table and held it towards the man.  “Do you know a man named Lucius Aurelius?” she hissed.
The old man’s bushy eyebrows shot up and disappeared into his hairline.  “Lucius?  How on earth do you know Lucius?”  He narrowed his blue eyes and leaned forward, his hand shot out grabbing her wrist.  “Who are you?”
She tried to reclaim her hand but the man was too strong.  Cleverly he’d grabbed her hand holding the knife so there was very little point struggling.  She raised her chin and said, “I am Klara...”
“The Hun,” the man finished softly.  He let her go and settled back.  “I’ve heard about you.  Sit down.  You’re in luck.”
