Elsa's mother had been killed, along with her grandmother, will they save Elsa from there family curse? After causing trouble and reaping a little revenge on a past foe, Howard comes back to find his dream girl. But will the curse of his family get in the way. Will Elsa be able to accept ,he turns furry every once in a while? And are the 2 family curses connected?
I enjoyed the story. I love Howard. He has always been one of my favorite characters. Elsa's character, I understand her apprehension and understand her fear but know the 2 characters will be great together. So I did get very frustrated with her character. I felt very protective of Howard, who we have grown to love over the past books. The book moves a little slow but I loved the fact I got to see so many characters from the other books. Worth the read! Adults only, Keep them coming Kerrelyn!

He was
right behind her and she bumped into him.
Whoa.” He
lifted his arms, grabbed hold of her biceps and pulled her flush against his
lean, hard body. “Just where I want you.”
“Adam,”
she chided, “it’s time for you to go too.”
“In a
minute.” His gaze dropped to her lips. “I’ve been wanting to taste you ever
since I saw you striding down that hill like you owned the world.”
She wanted
that too, but damn if she’d tell him that.
Slowly,
inexorably, he lowered his head until his lips hovered a scant inch from hers.
She could see the shards of gold in the green irises, could see his pupils
dilate in desire. He circled her shoulders with one arm, slid the other down
her hip to the curve of her ass. The heat of his palm all but branded her. The
iron of his cock pressed into her belly.
She
surrendered the last bit of half-hearted resistance and let herself fall into
the kiss. Fireworks crackled behind her closed eyelids as he tightened his
embrace and ground his pelvis into hers. Their mouths fused as though they were
long-time lovers. It felt right to
her, right to be kissing this man she’d just met.
He licked
the seam of her mouth and she opened to him like a flower to the morning sun,
accepting his foray with a hunger that surprised her. His taste, his smell,
were as familiar to her as the back of her hand. She wanted more, she wanted
skin on skin, wanted his cock inside her. A vision flashed on the edge of her
consciousness, of Adam and her on rumpled linens that furnished their newly
made iron bedstead, the fire in the hearth dispelling the sharp tang of winter
snow outside, Adam thrusting into her with a pounding rhythm and herself urging
him to go harder, faster, until he spent himself inside her with a deep groan.
Mercy came
to herself with a shock. This was no dream. This was Adam Connelly, a man she’d
just met, and she was kissing him with unprecedented ardor, juices dampening
her panties as well as her jeans. Her breasts ached for his mouth. Her nipples
were hard as walnuts.
“God,
Mercy, you’re killing me,” he groaned, moving his lips to her jaw, her neck,
taking erotic nips of her skin as he progressed downward. His hands fumbled to
lift her T-shirt and he bent lower to capture one breast in his hot mouth,
sucking through her bra to send bolts of electricity to her every nerve ending.
Her knees
weakened but he pressed her against the solid oak door for stability as he
kissed and nipped his way down her rib cage, her waist, fumbling at the snap of
her jeans. Mindlessly she plunged her fingers through his thick, sun-streaked
hair as he pulled down the tab on her zipper and yanked the denim fabric down
to her knees to expose her silky white bikini panties.
His mouth
latched on to her crotch through the fabric. She could smell her arousal and
wondered if Adam noticed the copious amount of cream leaking from her slit.
Lord, she wanted to spread her legs to accommodate him, but she was too lost in
the sensations his tongue was creating against her clit to try to kick off her
jeans. His fingers wrenched the silk panties aside, which allowed him to nip
and lick and suck directly on her skin. The fire in his mouth, in his fingers,
detonated small explosions throughout her body. He pressed against the hard,
aching nubbin with his tongue, boldly thrust two fingers into her slick
passage. The climax ripped through her, her eyes going blank, her knees
buckling, her breath coming in jerky gasps.
Lazy
moments later she opened her eyes and saw Adam still kneeling before her, a
smug look on his handsome face. “You are so beautiful when you come,” he said
in a hoarse voice, rising to his feet and trailing big hands up her thighs, her
hips, her rib cage, skimming her chest, her neck. He rested those hands on her
cheeks as his burning gaze captured her languorous one.
“Adam, you
have to—”
“I think
karma works, don’t you? I know, I know, you still have work to do tonight.
That’s just a taste of what we can be like together. I can’t tell you how much
I look forward to continuing our…discussion.”
Mercy
simply looked at him, trying to gather her wits about her. He’d all but knocked
her socks off. It was more than the dream. It had to be. She’d never responded
with such alacrity to any man. She wanted more. Much more.
Then the
dark-haired man insinuated himself into her thoughts. How did Seth fit in with
what had just happened?

Sexy Christmas Special Cris Anson Interview
Let’s welcome Ellora’s Cave author Cris Anson to Julie's Book Review. Cris is
giving away a download of Punishment and
Mercy, so don't forget to check out the rafflecopter to the right of the
pg.
Welcome to My Sexy Christmas special. Can you tell me a little about yourself?
Welcome to My Sexy Christmas special. Can you tell me a little about yourself?
Thanks for inviting me to visit, Julie.
I write erotic romance because
I firmly believe that life doesn't stop at the bedroom door. I had a deeply
romantic relationship with my husband of 22 years, and I want to celebrate his
memory in my writing. After he died, it took me a long time to come out of my
grief, but parts of him -- his honor, courage, optimism, tenacity, and lust for
life -- live on in all my heroes. They’re all alpha men, as well.
And I write erotic romance because I feel you're never too
old to give or receive love. Many of my stories have older heroines who dazzle
younger men, and I wouldn't mind being such a heroine in real life. But that's
another story...
I’ve written for Ellora’s Cave
since signing my first contract in 2004. I love gardening, and grow peonies,
dahlias and other showy flowers. I play the piano occasionally, listen to
classical music almost all the time, and sometimes dance to music only I can
hear.
What kind of books do you write? Newest release?
I write hot and sexy contemporary erotic romance.
What kind of books do you write? Newest release?
I write hot and sexy contemporary erotic romance.
My latest release, coming out
January 9 from Ellora’s Cave, is Mercy
and Redemption. Here’s
the blurb:
Searching
in an old cemetery for likely gravestones to illustrate her colonial cookbook,
Mercy Howe meets two hunks who are tracing their ancestry and sparks fly.
Literally.
When Mercy
casually touches Seth and Adam, her vividly erotic vision involving all three
of them feels like a memory, not a dream, and awakens long-dormant sexual
urges. Their kisses are achingly familiar, and she welcomes each in turn into
her body. Then she spends a no-holds-barred weekend with both men in her bed
and discovers an intimacy—and a past—that blows her mind.
As
memories resurface from three hundred years ago, Mercy will have to choose
whether to relieve the experiences from their joint past or forge a new bond
with either Seth or Adam. Or both.
What should we expect in your book? How HOT? MM,MF, MMF, etc.
Five-star hot. In Mercy and Redemption, the heroine gets it on with both heroes separately and together in a delicious ménage weekend, plus the two males rub up against each other as well.
How do you get ideas for these sexy books?
For the first book in this series, Punishment and Mercy, the young heroine claimed my brain and wouldn’t let go until I gave her both her heroes. I kept insisting I don’t write historicals (my excuse was, too much research). But she kept at me, shaking her bare butt in front of the entire congregation in a 1694 Massachusetts Bay Colony village and tantalizing me with what she wanted the blacksmith to do to her.

With the sequel, Mercy and
Redemption, it was easier. The characters began remembering snippets from
the past lives that they lived in Punishment
and Mercy, and it took off from there. Couple that with my own private
fantasies about two guys and a girl…
Still, my ideas can come from anywhere and anyone. A news article,
a comment overheard, an emotion experienced or shared, quirks of people I know,
all can trigger ideas. On the other hand, sometimes I have to sit down and wait
for days to drag ideas out of my brain, more difficult than pushing an SUV
uphill.
Anything in your stories based on real experiences?
Not experience so much as day-dreaming of what would happen to me if… If that hunky blacksmith could spin me around and bend me over the oak worktable in front of the fireplace and show me how it’s done… If the two hunks in snug T-shirts get it into their heads that they want to share me… you know, just everyday thoughts LOL.

But I do have to say that having lived many decades, I have lots
of experience with love, hate, loss, grief, anger, petulance, fright, despair
and the like, and I draw on those emotions to animate my characters. Oh yeah, I
also took a 3-day BDSM for Writers course and visited a BDSM dungeon and
participated in – er, did some first-hand research! I wrote a 4-part series
about BDSM on my blog, Cris Anson’s Passions (see link below), and I’ll be
using that research in the third book in this series, Redemption and Glory.
Toughest criticism? Best compliment?
Toughest criticism? Best compliment?
It would have to be a reviewer who took exception to the fact that
one of the main characters in Punishment
and Mercy wasn’t “of age” when the story started. As well, she objected to
my “old fashioned” voice. News flash: in 1694, 17-year-olds were not only
married but had children by then. I stayed true to the times. Plus, my editor
was amazed and thrilled that I had nailed both the 17th century texture and
voice and still was easy to read.
Best compliment? That my fans keep buying my books. I’m humbled
every time I get a note, a good review, a mention on Facebook, or someone has a
fan-girl moment (about me!) at a booksigning. Plus, every royalty check serves
up some smiles too.
Any advice for aspiring authors?
Any advice for aspiring authors?
Yes. Don’t give up. Do. Not. Give Up. You miss 100 percent of the
shots you don’t take. So if you don’t keep writing and learning and growing,
you won’t get published.
How about some fun stuff?
Dogs or cats? I’m allergic to both, but dogs. They’re more friendly.
Fav book? why?
Out of the thousands of books I’ve read, I’ve given about a dozen a perfect “10”. Here are four of them, each in a different genre (be sure to keep tissues handy for all of them!):

Fav book? why?
Out of the thousands of books I’ve read, I’ve given about a dozen a perfect “10”. Here are four of them, each in a different genre (be sure to keep tissues handy for all of them!):
Natural Law by Joey W. Hill (erotic romance). No one writes
about the mind-set of the Dominant and submissive in the BDSM lifestyle as she
does, with passion, understanding and emotion.
Flowers from the Storm by Laura Kinsale (historical romance). Quiet
Amish nurse meets an arrogant British nobleman whose stroke left him with brain
damage.
Sky Pirate by Justine Davis (futuristic romance). The
self-loathing that both hero and heroine had to overcome made for some
emotional bombshells.
Gone Too Far by Suzanne Brockmann (contemporary romantic
suspense). After watching their story develop over a half dozen Troubleshooter
books, Sam (married with a child) and Alyssa (a sharp-shooting assassin)
finally find their HEA.
Favorite place to travel?
I’ve been to Spain,
Portugal, Italy, Switzerland
and Austria
and would love to return. But really, there’s nothing like the United States of America.
DH and I took our RV to as close as the New Jersey Pine Barrens and as far away
as Denali National
Park in Alaska.
(Poor guy took 3 weeks to drive it home by himself, as I had to fly home to get
back to work. It was our last big trip.) I’d love to explore more places,
especially the Grand Canyon, the Southwest, and the 3,200-year-old giant
sequoias in California.
Fav author? Why?
Fav author? Why?
Until I discovered Ellora’s Cave, it was Nora Roberts, whose
stories are endlessly fascinating and move me emotionally. Now I’m immersing
myself in BDSM authors because that’s where my characters are taking me. So it
would have to be Joey W. Hill. She delves so deeply into her characters’
psyches that I squirm, I ache, I cry for them.
Is this your full time job? If yes, anything else you want to do? If no, what else do you do?
I’m recently retired from a life as an executive assistant in the business and charity worlds. I have to admit, retirement to me means “I can always do it tomorrow, I don’t have to squeeze my writing in after I get home from work and feed DH and do laundry and weed the garden and all the other home-owner stuff.” So I do a lot of reading and relaxing and gardening. And in between I write. For a while I felt like I deserved to take time off and do…not much of anything. But my characters are always in the back of my mind, sometimes more quiet than at other times. Right now I’m working on the third book in this trilogy, where the hero first sees the heroine in—what else? —a BDSM club. And boy, are they speaking to me now!

Review of Something Wicked by AJ Myer
Something Wicked
It was all over. The demon Jack was sent to a far away place and Ember was safe. So they all thought. When Ember passes Jack's locker and feels bad for her lost friend, she sees him standing outside leaning against a tree. NO, It can not be him, he is gone! When Nate, Embers vampire boyfriend, finds Embers necklace and a note stabbed to a tree, Nate knows Jack is back. When a murderer starts killing girls and dying their hair red (like Ember), they know they have bigger problems and the cause is from a stalking demon. Jack is obsessed with Ember, but Why? Nate loves Ember but is there more to the story? Ember gets to learn about Nate's past and if they are really truly meant for one another and she also finds out why Jack is after her. Her best friends have new secrets too! She will need more than her ghosts, to help protect her from the demon who took over Jack.
This one is a roller coaster ride. You feel the connection between Nate and Ember. There is a trust issue Ember has to battle. Jack is determined to get Ember, but is it because he loves her too or just to get back at Nate? I enjoyed this one even more than book 1. So many questions answered and so many new ones to answer. This one is good for all ages, young and old alike. The characters are great and well written. Had a hard time putting this one down. Can't wait till the next one!

AJ Myer Something Wicked Excerpt of Book 2 Something Wicked
Excerpt of Something Wicked
By the time Nathan finally emerged from the woods and headed toward me, I had totally freaked myself out, imagining demons and every other manner of thing that went bump in the night watching me from the windows of those abandoned wings. When I got a good look at Nathan’s ashen complexion and tense shoulders, that spine-chilling factor multiplied exponentially, leaving me shivering.
“Did you find something?” I asked, my voice trembling as badly as the rest of me, when he wrenched his door open with enough force to nearly tear it off.
“First, you are going to answer a few questions for me,” he snapped, sliding behind the wheel but making no move to start the car. “First question, did anything happen today I should know about?”
I started to say ‘no’, but the look on his face told me he already knew something so I decided to try honesty out for a change. Training my eyes on the dashboard, I whispered, “I thought I saw Jack.”
“Is that right?” Nathan seethed. “And you didn’t think to tell me that?”
“I didn’t tell you because I didn’t think he was real,” I mumbled, still not looking at him. “I was standing in front of his locker after the last bell rang, looking at the pictures everybody keeps adding to it and thinking about how much I missed him. And when I walked out, there he was, leaning against that tree over there.”
“You miss the spawn of Satan himself, Em?” he growled. “What? Was it more exciting for you when you were being stalked by a damn demon?”
“No,” I whispered, shaking my head as my eyes filled with tears. “I miss Jack, Nathan. My Jack. The guy I grew up with and fought with and danced with and went to parties with. I miss my friend. Is that so hard to understand?”
He sat there and stared at me for what seemed like forever, and I could see the emotions flitting across his gorgeous face. He was feeling guilty for being such a prick. He was jealous because I had just admitted to missing another guy. He was pissed I hadn’t told him I’d seen a ghost. He was worried about something. And he was…afraid. Like, really and truly afraid.
Oh, that could not be good.
“Next question,” he said softly, his voice sounding even more strained. I got the impression that he was trying not to yell at me, but couldn’t figure out for the life of me why he would want to. “Em, where is your cross?”
My cross? Was he serious? I never took the little gold cross he had given me off. Nathan knew that. He’d even teased me about it. Why the hell would he be asking me where it was when he…already…?
Oh, shit.
I patted my chest where my cross usually rested, but didn’t feel anything beneath my sweater. With a little thrill of panic shooting through me, I pulled my sweater out so I could look for myself, sure it was there and I was just missing it. But all I found was a pair of too-big boobs harnessed by a white lace bra and smooth skin.
“I don’t know,” I admitted in a strangled whisper, my eyes filling with tears.
I looked over at him, preparing myself for the anger I was sure I would see glowing in his eyes, but instead I found myself staring at what was dangling from one of his long fingers. The cross glinted in the muted winter light coming through the windshield, the symbol of my mark that was engraved in the center of it seeming to almost glow in that faint light.
I reached for it, wanting nothing more than to put it back where it belonged. That cross was more than just a pretty piece of jewelry. It was a magic amulet so powerful that it could
transcend worlds and my only guarantee of safety in the crazy world I was coming to think of as my own. It was more than that I wanted it. I needed it. Even before Grams had turned it into a portal to the lost plane I had reacted that way to the little cross. It was mine, damn it, and I wanted it back.
To my surprise, Nathan snatched it back and then curled his big fist around it. Taking a deep breath through his nose in an attempt to calm down, he growled, “You can have it back after Shea and Amelia check it out.”
“Where did you find that?”
“In the woods!” he snarled, flashing his fangs at me as his eyes began to glow like a pair of light bulbs. “It was nailed to a tree. Along with this.”
He held a folded, crumpled piece of paper out to me. I took it with trembling hands, pretty sure I didn’t want to see what was on it. I had to force myself to unfold it, and when I did I wished I had just gone with my first instinct and refused. It was a copy of the story Kim and I had been reading in the paper before she got pissed and walked out on me.
With a few very conspicuous differences.
“What the hell?” I squeaked, staring at the picture of me someone had put in place of Blood Red’s latest victim.
It wasn’t just the fact that my face had replaced that of a dead girl that terrified me; it was the picture itself. Only one person had that picture. He’d refused to even send it to me after he snapped it with his phone the summer before, saying it was going to be his and only his forever. And, as far as I knew, he’d kept that vow.
The photographer had been Jack.
“Read it,” Nathan said, refusing to take the paper back from me even when I practically shoved it into his hand. “Read it, Em.”
Though I didn’t want to, I forced myself look at the paper again. It wasn’t the story I finally found myself reading over and over—though that would have been enough to terrify me all by itself, seeing as the dead girl’s name had been replaced with mine throughout the article. No, what had me wanting to go find a hole to hide in was the handwritten message at the bottom.
Hey, bloodsucker. It’s playtime again. May the best man win.
“Your boyfriend’s back, Em,” Nathan said when I started to shake like I was having a seizure. “That message he’s been sending, it’s to me. This time, he’s playing to win.”

The joy and fun we have is almost as good as the food we eat that day! lol

How to Survive Being Stalked By a Demon 101
How to Survive Being Stalked By a Demon 101
With Ember!
Welcome back! So, you made it through your first encounter with the undead. Bravo! Give yourself a pat on the back. Seriously, you deserve it.
For those of you just tuning in, my name is Ember Blaylock, narrator and karmic torture victim—because apparently the author has nothing better to do with her life than mess with mine—of AJ Myers’ new YA series, Mystics & Mayhem. I have devised these little lessons in how to survive the World of Weird to help you not stumble into the same quicksand I find myself in over and over again. So! Without further whining on my part, here goes!
How to Survive Being Stalked By a Demon 101
Lesson 1: What does a demon look like?
Demons are ugly, misshapen little monsters. You know the type. Talon-like claws; scary fangs; leathery, bat-style wings—a true nightmare in the making. But! Most people never see them. Because what a demon really likes is a good human suit. They can look like your best friend, your boyfriend, your gym teacher, your parents...you get the picture. And, no. It’s not going to be real obvious—at least at first. I mean, this isn’t The Exorcist, people. Your gym teacher’s head isn’t going to start spinning around when she gets pissed. There’s not going to be any projectile green vomit—at least you can hope not. And sores spelling out ‘Hi! I’m a demon!’ are not going to appear on their forehead. I only wish it was that easy to figure out.
So if you think you’re being stalked by a demon, keep your guard up at all times. Until you figure out a way to tell the difference, everyone’s a suspect!
Lesson 2: How do you tell the difference?
You ever heard that your body will tell you when something’s wrong? Well, it’s true, so pay attention to what your gut tells you—and if you’re anything like me, you’re going to end up with an island-sized ulcer there so you won’t be able to miss it.
For this section were’ going to do three questions and three answers. And if I call on you, please don’t ask me anything stupid. I have my own demon problems to get back to, you know?
Q1: Hi, Ember. Look, my boyfriend and I were walking through the park the other night and I got the strangest feeling we were being watched. Seriously, my hair stood up on end and I felt all creepy-crawly. Could that have been a demon?
A: Well, yeah, it could have been. But it also could have been the local pervert getting off on watching you and your boyfriend make out. If you think it was a demon, though, start watching your back…and your front…and both sides. You know what? Never mind. Just go home, board up your windows and doors, get your teddy bear and a blanket, and go hide in your closet. I mean, better safe than sorry, right?
Q2: I’ve been having this really weird experience with my friend, we’ll call him Joe. It seems like every time I’m around him, I start feeling like I’m drowning. The other day, I even started spitting out what looked and tasted like salt water. Is that something I should worry about?
A: Seriously? Uh, yeah. You need to be more than worried. You need to be afraid. Like, really afraid. It’s your subconscious or whatever trying to warn you. My suggestion? You might want to listen! Because it only gets worse. At least you aren’t being burnt alive every time he touches you. Yeah, that’s a total riot. But, really, you need to start looking up your local exorcist. Because ‘Joe’ is so not ‘Joe’ anymore. Trust me, I know what I’m talking about.
Q3: Hey. I’m kind of past all that. I have all the symptoms of a demon stalking me. What I want to know is, how do I get rid of him?
A: Good question! The rest of you need to pay attention to this, too. Better take notes while you’re at it. There’s no guarantee that I’ll be around to tell you again. I’d say my chances are like…fifty-fifty? Well, I guess I’ll know soon enough…
Lesson 3: How do you exterminate your demon stalker?
First off, you have my condolences. If you are being stalked by a demon, you’re in deep shit. Demons are scary, annoying, stalkerish assholes that are determined to get their own way. If you do have the bad luck to attract one, you’re going to need a batty old witch—look up your dear old Grams, she’s usually a good candidate—a magic amulet, and balls the size of a Mack truck to get rid of him.
Oh! And that vampire you went and fell in love with? What? Oh, please! Who are you kidding? You know you fell in love with him, so don’t even try to deny it. Anyway, your undead Prince Charming is about to prove himself useful for something other than making you all hot and bothered. Demons don’t like vampires very much, so he can be a real asset while you’re trying to keep from becoming a soulless demon doll.
Lesson 4: Okay, I’ve got the witch, the amulet, and the vampire…now what?
Yeah. This is where those balls I mentioned earlier are going to come in. Because all those powerful people you have on your team aside, it’s really up to you to get rid of this creeper. You have to summon the demon. You have to trap him. Then, you have to find some way to get him out of his comfy little human vacation home. But, hey, once you’ve got that done, it’s in the bag, right?
Sure it is! Just wiggle your nose and say ‘Abracadabra!’ and, poof! He’s gone! Yeah, I bet you believe in Santa and the Easter Bunny too, huh? If only it was that easy.
Believe me, this creeper is not going down without a fight. And it’s a seriously hair-curling experience. Because demons aren’t as stupid as you might think. So get ready. You’re in for one hell of a ride.
And that concludes our lesson for today. If you survive your demon, come on back next time. If not…
Well, it was nice knowing ya!

Death's Angel Excerpt by Heather Kilough-Walden
From Death’s Angel, by Heather Killough-Walden
Coming December 31, 2012
(book three in the Lost Angels series)
Azrael smiled, flashing perfect white teeth that sported incisors slightly longer than the norm. Some people naturally looked like that, he knew, but on him it looked different enough that he didn’t smile often. On him, it seemed to fit too perfectly and only served to reinforce the otherworldly impressions people often had when looking at him.
He was a starkly charismatic individual. He was taller than anyone he knew, save perhaps Samael. His voice could literally mesmerize. He was also uncommonly, almost painfully handsome. He wasn’t certain why the Old Man had seen fit to bother with such a thing while simultaneously making him a vampire. It was like the curse of Beethoven, who created the most beautiful music in the world and couldn’t hear it. What good was a beautiful face when placed on a monster?
But Sophie didn’t seem to mind the hint of fang he exposed. In fact, as he brushed her mind, unable to help himself from drawing nearer to her in any way possible, he was surprised to find that she found it attractive. My God, she thought. He really does look like a vampire.
This was the second time she had thought such a thing. If he’d been capable of choking, he would have done so the first time her mind had muttered the impression. Hearing it now had nearly as strong an effect on Azrael. Sophie wasn’t repulsed by vampires. And the idea that he resembled one was appealing to her.
Of course, Azrael was no fool. A lot of girls believed they would enjoy the company of a vampire – if vampires existed. In reality, he knew they would cower or scream or run, or most likely all three. Still… he found himself hoping.
“Sophie Bryce, right? The maid of honor?” he asked, his smile utterly disarming. He’d had millennia to practice.
Sophie blinked and he read her thoughts. She was desperately trying to find her head in the wake of his sudden presence. She’d been torturing herself over the last few days, and he knew it. He’d watched her every night. Listened to her. He knew damn well that she was drawn to him – and that she hated herself for it.
He sensed it when a slight pain twinged up her arm and Sophie realized that her friend was holding her tight. Taylor’s fingers curled into Sophie’s forearm in utter distraction, her hazel eyes glued to Azrael. He knew she couldn’t help it and wasn’t aware of what she was doing, but the fact that she’d brought his archess even the slightest discomfort was difficult for Az to ignore. It upset him.
And with practiced control, he tamped down the anger.
Sophie, on the other hand, appeared to be glad for the pain. It shot through the dazed fog that Az’s appearance had caused. It also cleared her senses enough to allow her to pull her arm out of Taylor’s grip, clear her throat, and say, “Yes.” He tried not to smile when her voice cracked halfway through the single syllable. She cleared her throat some more and forced a smile to her lips. “That’s me.” She was so fucking cute with half of her glorious golden locks tucked up underneath that Penguins cap. Wisps of it fell about her face, framing it and caressing it the way he wanted to.
He chuckled softly, watching her carefully to gauge the effect his laugh had on her. Sophie’s gold eyes brightened, her lips parted, and her cheeks flushed ever so slightly. Az’s monster reared its head and he felt his vision begin to heat up. If he wasn’t careful,
his eyes would begin to glow. “We never got the chance to actually meet the other night,” he told her, forcing himself to continue with the charade.
“No,” she agreed, relieved that she was finally finding her voice. “We didn’t.”
He cocked his head to one side and slid his gaze from hers to regard her friends. He needed to look away – just for a moment. Long enough to get himself under control once more. His gold eyes slowly scanned the faces of her companions – and then stopped on the pair of men who sat behind them.
A quick scan of their minds told him they were recent graduates from Carnegie Mellon University. The one on the right was the son of a wealthy factory owner here in the city. His name was Richard. And he’d been thinking all sorts of biblical things about Sophie that night.
Azrael grew very still and something dark flickered across his face. He knew it was there; he knew he was failing to hide his sudden fury. But he barely cared.
Richard fell back into the curve of his seat and swallowed hard as the blood drained from his face. Below him, Sophie cleared her throat, at once drawing Azrael’s attention. Sophie slowly stood and turned to face him. “Az, these are my friends, Taylor and Emily.” She gestured toward them and they smiled nervously, but politely, nodding in his direction.
Emily and Taylor’s eyes were still a little glazed over at his presence, so, Az allowed some of his vampiric influence to snake around and through the girls, easing them into a more comfortable state of relaxation.
It worked like a charm. Within seconds, Taylor was smiling easily and standing to greet him properly. “It’s a pleasure to meet you,” she said, extending her hand.
“Likewise,” Az agreed, and with a slight bow, accepted the offered hands of both Taylor and then Emily, who quickly followed suit.
While he shook hands, Sophie’s thoughts echoed through Az’s mind.
She couldn’t believe that her friends weren’t guessing he was the Masked One. It seemed so obvious to her now that she knew his secret. Everything about him screamed of the kind of rock star charisma that it took to hold millions of fans in sway.
Meanwhile, Sophie’s gaze traveled over Azrael’s form, and he tried not to visibly crow with the triumph he felt when she shamelessly took in the way the black button-up shirt under his sports coat stretched taut across the muscles of his chest. She was particularly fond of the curve of his neck where it met his shoulder.
Azrael released Emily’s hand, straightened again, and heard Sophie’s heart rate speed up.
He looked up to see that her sunshine eyes were glassy with unabashed desire. And, as if it would hide the way her mouth watered for him, she had pressed her bottom lip between two perfect, white teeth. Azrael’s gaze locked on the plump lip. He quickly slipped his hands into the pockets of his trench coat as they tightened into fists at his sides, and his nails began to cut into his palms. He imagined her pressing hard enough with her teeth to draw blood.
If she did… it would all be over.
“Juliette mentioned you live in Pittsburgh,” he said, trying to break through not only his tension, but hers. “I’d forgotten.” His tone was gentle, personal. He knew that to her, it was as if they were the only two in the arena.
“For now,” she told him flat-out. She didn’t want to bore him with the fact that she would only be there for two more days, but he was well aware.
“But what are you doing here?” she asked, honestly curious. It was quite a coincidence to her that she had never seen him before in her life – and then, suddenly, she’d seen him twice in the space of a week. She wasn’t stupid; she was wary.
That was okay with him. He had a story and he would use it, but even this lie was too much of a secret for him to share with her friends. Az glanced at Taylor and Emily and smiled an easy, even somewhat shy smile. “It’s a personal matter actually,” he said. “However…” he paused, turned, and glanced up toward the private booths up above them. His band awaited him in one of them; they had a bird’s eye view of the entire arena from their vantage point. He knew because he’d been watching Sophie from it all night.
He also knew that Sophie had never been in one of those suites herself, and he was hoping she’d be tempted enough by what he was about to offer that he could pull her away from her companions at least for a little while. “Second period will begin in a few minutes,” he said, looking back down at her and scorching her once more with stark eyes. “And there is plenty of room in our suite for another guest.” He chanced another glance at the men seated behind Sophie – especially Richard – and was smugly satisfied when the young man looked as though he wanted to piss himself. “Perhaps you would care to join me?” he asked, turning his gaze back on his archess.
He could hear her blood rushing through her veins. He was scaring her and thrilling her at the same time. She was finding it hard to think.
He wasn’t opposed to working with that; he had no desire to stand here and play the good guy much longer anyway.
A gentle push of his power, and it surrounded Sophie. In a few moments, she not only found it difficult to think, she found it impossible. Seconds ago, she’d had a thousand reasons why she should keep away from Azrael. And the fact that he belonged to – was destined to be with – another, was the most powerful.
But just then, every reason she’d had, and in fact, reason itself, fled from her consciousness and she found herself saying, “Yes.” She’d barely whispered it, but it was enough.
Azrael’s smile broadened.

Special Interview Heather Kilough- Walden
Let’s welcome Heather Killough-Walden to Julie's Book Review. Heather is giving away an eBook copy of Death’s Angel, her newest Lost Angels release, so don't forget to check out the rafflecopter to the right of the pg.
Welcome to my chew the fat special. Can you tell me a little about yourself?
I am… passionate. Sensitive. I hate real evil and suffering, I love kindness and compassion and empathy. I adore intelligence and knowledge, science and advancement; it keeps the world turning. I abhor conservative fear and loathing; it holds us back. I am a New York Times bestselling author of paranormal romance (and other things), and I am really fond of hockey. ;)
What kind of books do you write?
I write in all genres from young adult fantasy to young adult paranormal romance to romantic thrillers to science fiction and fantasy. You name it.
Newest release?
I’ve released three books in the last three months: In October, I released Secretly Sam the second book in The October Trilogy. In November, I released A Sinister Game, a sizzling hot stand-alone paranormal romance. And in December, I am releasing Death’s Angel, the third book in the paranormal romance series The Lost Angels. J
What should we expect in your book?
This third novel centers on Azrael – the vampire of the bunch. Not only is he a vampire, he’s the king of vampires. He’s also the former angel of death. A more powerful, dark, and dangerous character I have never written. He is…. He’s in a league all his own.
How HOT? MM,MF, MMF, etc.
With the exception of an intimated scene in The Spell, the third book in the Big Bad Wolf series, all of my books are fairly standard in the MF department. Now, as to hotness – I’d say this one will leave you permanently branded.
How do you get ideas for these sexy books?
The characters come knocking on my door, give me that smile of theirs, pin me with those unbelievable eyes, and the rest just comes naturally. ;)
Anything in your stories based on real experiences?
Oh yeah. See above. LOL
Toughest criticism?
I’ve had some very hateful reviews in the past. I mean, these were reviews so horrible, it was obvious the person hadn’t read the book or was jealous or was just plain mean and bored. At first, these really hurt. Now I don’t even bother reading them. Their hatred is their problem.
Best compliment?
I get these every day from my readers. It constantly and unendingly astounds me. I am the luckiest writer in the world. The feedback I get just rockets me into Cloud Nine and leaves me there. I’ve had readers tell me that I helped them through chemo treatments, through the loss of loved ones, and that I’ve maintained their sanity during moments that would have otherwise broken them. I can’t tell you what that means to me.
Any advice for aspiring authors?
Never give up.
I don’t say that lightly, and I’m not reciting a platitude. I mean it.
Never. Give. Up.
How about some fun stuff?
Okay!
Dogs or cats?
Cats.
1 Fave book?
The Phantom Tollbooth.
Why?
It’s just so witty, so intelligent, and there is so much there to be gleaned and learned from it.
Favorite place to travel?
London. Britain in general, in fact.
1 fave author?
Samuel Clemens.
Why?
He was beautifully duplicitous. LOL He gave the appearance of being so incredibly genteel, so soft-spoken intelligent, and yet there was a fire beast under his skin that you could see every once in a while as it scorched the pages of his works. He had a biting wit. He suffered so much, as so many did in less medically advanced times. I can see this empathy in his words as well. He’s just very interesting to me.
Is this your full time job?
It’s my full time job and then some. I often work 20-hour days.
If yes, anything else you want to do?
I would love to be able to give up the marketing aspect of my job and just concentrate solely on writing. I would really, really love that.
Where can we find you and your books?
You can find me behind the screen of my laptop.
You can find my books at booksellers everywhere, including internationally. My print books are sold in the US, the UK, and Germany. My indie eBook novels are sold via Amazon in the US, the UK, Italy, Germany, Japan, and a host of other countries that I can’t recall at the moment.

Review of Gateway to Hell by Eleni Konstantine
Gateway to Hell
A Warder Tale Book One
Zeta's already not much of a people person. Maybe that makes her perfect for sweeping demons up into her personal gateways to hell. Unfortunately the whole " I can open and close gateways to Hell" doesn't really help in any other aspect of a personal life though. Meeting Daniel Richards though is a bit refreshing since once he believes her he sees it as a definite bonus. Downside...can Zeta trust herself to not hurt Daniel. She can't live with more mistakes. What she doesn't know though, is that she can't live without him either. Tricky Demons...
Good starter book. Looking forward to the next one, hopefully it will be longer!! Would have enjoyed to read it a while longer. 3.75 out of 5 stars. As warned before the first page, this book has very adult content!
I REALLY REALLY wanted to give this 4 stars but this wasn't long enough

Review A Horse Called Trouble by C.K. Volnek
A Horse Called Trouble
A throwaway kid. A throwaway horse. Neither deserving of the title, but both thrown into the misnomer against their wills.
Tara is unwanted by her mother, deserted by her father, and the victim of a cruel plan to ruin her life. Trouble is a horse, tortured by a spoiled, self-centered girl—the same one who is out to destroy Tara’s future. Nothing is ever said as to why this girl has such hatred to both Tara and the horse; in the end, it doesn’t really matter.
But when Trouble meets Tara, and the two bond, it changes both of their lives. And in the end, Tara learns that she is in no way a throwaway child. In fact, she is better off than the privileged child who continually tries to take away her hopes and dreams.
What a wonderful picture Ms. Volnek draws for the reader in this book! It’s obvious from the start that she knows about the psychological workup of the foster child. The way she leads her protagonist, Tara, out of her shell and into the strong, confident young lady she becomes is truly magic. Not to say that there isn’t some holding back; Ms. Volnek makes it clear how hard it is to go from the mindset of “I’m not wanted” to “I am worth something” for those who know no other life than rejection.
The magic between Tara and the horses may seem a bit unreal to those uninitiated into the realm of people who struggle with self-esteem every day, but it is a candle of hope to the reader who has had to deal with it. Anyone who has had the heel of rejection ground into them in day-to-day living can relate to catching that one straw, that one glimmer of hope, that can lead to a life of happiness. It is a metaphor more than a reality, although I cannot attest to the bond that can happen between horse and human. Ms. Volnek definitely can, because she has experience with horses—and that comes through loud and clear. Her story is very easy to read, without being simplistic; the characters are very believable, and the story is seamless. I cheered at the ending. It was a little predictable, but made me happy nonetheless.

Review of Dirty Little Christmas by Julie Leto
Dirty Little Christmas
Marisela, is a secret agent working for an organization called Titan. It is Christmas time and she is going to pick up her sister Belinda at the airport, a surprise for her parents. Belinda has issues of her own. Diagnosed with a high functioning autism, she does not do well socially. Even though she is brilliant and working in a successful business, she doesn't show emotion and has many quirks of her own. So when Belinda steps off the airplane pregnant, Marisela is more than a little surprised. She is even more surprised when they are attacked, Belinda is kidnapped, her car is blown up and her best friend, who came with her is severely hurt. So with Belinda pregnant and now kidnapped, Marisela turns to the one person she knows who will help her get Belinda back at any cost, Frankie. Frankie is Marisela's ex-partner from Titan, ex-boyfriend, sometime lover and the one person who broke her heart as a teen. Frankie will do anything for Marisela. He knows he hurt her when they were young but loves her still. So with the two of them tracking down Belinda's kidnappers, sparks fly and the action and suspense counties to build.
A mystery, action, book with some hot sex scenes, what more can you ask for? Julie keeps you on the edge of your seat and wondering how they are going to get away with everything or even just get out safe. As you learn more about Belinda, you begin to wonder how the pregnancy happened. And when the Japanese mob joins the fun, the action is amped up even more. Really enjoyed the book. Sex scenes are hot and the chemistry between the 2 main characters is amazing. Marisela is a VERY strong character, takes no shit from no one. So if you love strong women characters and action above and below the sheets, this book is a must read! Thanks for the great read Julie Leto!
