BJ Grinder and TS McKinney Day 5

Wait For Me

Excerpt
"I don't want you to watch, Susannah."  Malachi reached slowly for the binoculars, but she refused to hand them over.  She fell to her knees, but continued to watch, in horror, as he moved closer and closer to the edge of the rooftop.  Not a soul noticed him. It was, they realized, the opportunity he had been waiting on since the moment of his abduction.  The boy wanted peace and was about to grasp it.  To add to Susannah's punishment, he was facing their direction.  When he was close enough that he could leap to safety he raised his head proudly.  His shoulders straightened sharply and, almost in slow motion, he raised two fingers to his lips and kissed them softly.  With a sad smile, he placed those two fingers over the "V" on his collar and took the last step that would put him right on the edge.
Malachi saw Alexander start to scream Jasper's name and the guards rushed in his direction, but there wasn't anything any of them could do.  He saw Susannah reach out her hand and he knew that with her binoculars, she felt like she was close enough to reach out and touch him. Her small hand closed around empty air as Jasper took that last step only seconds before the first guard was able to get close enough to grab him. Malachi knocked the binoculars from Susannah's hand and wrapped his arms around her tightly.  She screamed and screamed and screamed before finally succumbing to her emotions and fainting away.  He kept her wrapped in his arms even as he felt the life energy slip away from her.  Gracefully, he brought them both to the ground and cradled her body against his. In his mind, he had planned for every possible scenario and had tried his fucking best to be prepared with a counter move. He had never prepared for this.  How could anyone have prepared for this?
