My debut novel THE GENEVA CONNECTION is an organized crime thriller and was published in December, 2011 by Musa Publishing. Within a couple of weeks, it was voted third place in the prestigious 2011 P&E thriller readers’ poll.  Since then, it has attracted considerable media attention, including BBC interviews, newspaper and other coverage and it now stands at the top of the Goodreads Best Financial Thrillers List. By the third quarter of 2012 it had entered the top 20 best selling books in the Kindle store at Amazon.com and had made it into the top 5 best selling mysteries and thrillers category.
“The Geneva Connection is a hard-hitting, well-written piece of action-driven fiction, with an attention to detail that James Patterson would be proud of and yet quite different from anything I’ve yet seen…” Celina Summers, Editorial Director at Musa Publishing
“With this page-turner, Bodenham aspires to do for fund managers what John Grisham has done for lawyers.” Corporate Financier Magazine

Interview with Martin Bodenham

Interview with thriller writer, Martin Bodenham

Musa is giving away some great prizes, get details to the right of this page.

We are all very glad you came here to JBR. Can you tell us a little about yourself?

Thanks for inviting me, Julie.

I write international thriller novels, loosely based on financial crimes and the law. I guess you could describe my stories as Wall Street meets The Firm. Much of what I write has been based on my twenty-five year career as a private equity investor. It is an industry full of high drama, greed and fear, providing me with plenty of material for my books.

As a reader I love all genres but my followers want to know what to expect from your books. Action, adventure, romance, sex, magic?

My readers can expect to be taken into the worlds of organized crime, money laundering and the boardrooms of international companies and investment banks, where fortunes can be made or lost and only the strong survive.

Who is your favorite character from your books?

My favorite has to be John Kent, who is the main character in my novel, The Geneva Connection. The best way I can describe him is by sharing the blurb for that story:

Brilliant investor John Kent is living his dream. The success of his private equity firm has propelled him into the ranks of the world's super-rich, allowing him to give his family the security and advantages he hadn't known in his own childhood.

But John's dream is shattered with the discovery that his largest investor is bankrolled by the most vicious drug cartel in Mexico. Then one of his partners is murdered to guarantee his silence, and John realizes he cannot go to the authorities.

When the ambitious head of the DEA threatens John with incarceration, his nightmare is complete. If he resists the DEA, what will happen to his family while he's imprisoned? But the alternative is worse. For if John chooses to betray the cartel, he and his family might pay the ultimate price.

What is your newest release? Can you tell us a little about it?

Although it has not been released yet, my next novel is with my agent.

Josh Traynor is the brightest investor of his generation, earning in one year on Wall Street what most people rarely make in a lifetime. But Josh is not in this for personal enrichment. He sees the money as an opportunity to do good and gives away most of his income to charitable causes.

When he sets up his own private equity firm in Boston, Massachusetts, investors clamber for places. His new firm’s first major deal is the twenty-five billion dollar acquisition of a defense technology company from the US government, desperate to raise money to reduce crippling federal debt. But, soon after, Josh discovers he’s bought a pup when a bitter former senior employee of the newly acquired company tells him the technology does not work.

Facing financial and reputational ruin, Josh investigates the US Treasury officials behind the sale. What he discovers is a terrifying web of corruption and deceit extending to the top of government, involving blackmail and assassination on an industrial scale.

What about future projects? Any hints?

Currently, I am editing my next thriller, which I hope to see published later this year.

Michael Hoffman has come a long way from the deprivation of his childhood in Chicago’s south side. Now he’s a young, successful partner in a major New York law firm, handling some of its clients’ most prestigious M&A deals. With a beautiful wife, and two young daughters who look up to him, he has built the perfect life.

But Michael has a secret: one that goes back to his childhood; one that not only would destroy his family and brilliant career but, if discovered by the right people, would also get him killed.

There is only one person who knows this secret, and he is a career criminal who manages a low profile hedge fund, bankrolled by mob money. Michael’s secret is safe provided he agrees to feed details of acquisition deals to the fund so they can make millions from insider trading.

Can you give aspiring authors any advice?

In most cases, tenacity and hard work pay off in the end. There are no short cuts.

Who is your favorite author?

It has to be John Grisham. I love the pace and intrigue to be found in his novels. He has a way of hooking the reader and keeping them there, wanting to know how the story ends.

Favorite place to travel to?

Cape Cod. My wife and I go there most years. Great food and big skies...

And finally where can we find your books?

My novels can be found on Amazon at: www.amazon.com/Martin-Bodenham/e/B006N69HDG/ref=ntt_athr_dp_pel_1
More information on my writing can be found on my website: www.martinbodenham.com

Review of Cameron's Quest by Loraine Nelson

Cameron's Quest ( Thunder Creek Ranch)

Cameron as a young man fell in love. Lacey and Cam even though they were together for a short time, fell hard for one another. When Lacey's Uncle dies and the family has to leave there vacation spot in London, they leave without ever getting contact info to Cam. Cam is devastated and never forgets his sweet Lacey. Years, over 20, go by and he always wondered what happened to his Irish beauty. So armed with the only info he has ever had, she is Irish and her last name, Cam starts the search. Town to town, he goes. Finally he comes across a small cafe'. He sees a young woman that looks like the spiting image of his Lacey. He has found his woman but also much more than he could have ever imagined. Lacey had given birth to triplet girls,  about 22 years of ago. Lacey and Cam with their short time together have 3 beautiful Irish red head girls. Cam thrilled, but sad about how much he has missed, just wants to reconnect with Lacey. But not until Cam sends the 4 girls open ended tickets to come visit him on the Ranch, does Lacey's true feeling come to the light. But when a mysterious murder, happens on their doorstep, will it ruin the start of what Cam and Lacey have just start to build back?

The Thunder Creek Ranch series is a series that has a great love story, danger and even some laughs. The love story is usually between 2 characters with some kind of issue, major or minor. Cam and Lacey were 2 young adults who fell in love and  had found and lost one another before Lacey could find out she had been pregnant. You know Cam would have been there if he had known any of it. The Manning's (Cam's family) would be one that you would be proud to be a part of. As you read the story you not only fall in love with the people but the scenery and the potential stories you know will come. These books you should read in order due to the stories do inter weave. Adult content. Love this series and highly recommend.

Review of A Princess from Mars by Edgar rice Burroughs & Bebe Balocca

Title: A princess from mars
Author: Edgar rice Burroughs & Bebe Balocca

John Carter had been an amazing fighter all
his life. John had been to war and far off lands
and back again. John finds himself on the
greatest adventure of his life when he is
some how transported to the planet Mars.
Almost as soon as John gets on Mars he
is taken prisoner by the green martians. Only to
grow in command in there community by his great
fighting skills and his now super human strength.
John had gained this amazing strength when he arrived
on Mars.
One day the green martians find them self in battle
with a fleet of ships belonging to the red martians.
After the battle the green martians capture a new
prisoner. The daughter of one of the red martian tribes
Dejah Thoris.
For John it was love at first sight. He knew it in
his heart and soul he had to do what ever it took to
help Dejah escape the green martians and to win the
beautiful princesses heart.

This book was a fantastic read it transported me to
the planet Mars. As I read the book the red planet
and the people on it came to life for me, it was
truly amazing. I loved how I got a human point of
view on how brutal life was for both the green
martians and the red martians. It was fantastic
how both struggle for survival in the same
ways but also different ways. I loved this book
and will recommend it to anyone who will listen.
I definitely give this book 5 stars.

Review of Cradle of Lies by Rebecca E Grant

TITLE - CRADLE OF LIES
AUTHOR - REBECCA E. GRANT
REVIEWER - WENDE SHEETS
STARS 5 +++

Dan Archer was a psychopath. His main goal was kidnapping women and the things hey did to them was beyond inhuman. Cody Archer was an innocent bystander, raised to only know his father's sick world. At the age of 16 he finally escapes the horrific world which his father had him trapped in. After spending 5 years in a hospital trying to recover, if there is such a thing, he is ready to get on with his life. Unfortunately his name brings nothing but trouble.

At the age of 21 he finds himself working on a ranch in Cradle Montana. Tom Tanner owns the horse ranch and the only bad thing Cody has encountered so far is Tom's daughter, Riley.  Riley goes after Cody right away, she is another psycho trying to control Cody. Cody is one step ahead of her and knows her game. Cody soon runs into Mattie Rayne. Her smile captured his heart from the start. Her father owns the Takoda bar in town and once Cody wins Jake's approval, Cody and Mattie start a relationship.

Things are rolling good till Riley decides to play some more psycho games with Cody. Then things start going bad, REAL bad. Cody's dad, Dan, escapes and Riley's mom is murdered. Did Cody live up to everyones expectation and turn psycho like his dad ?? The events that transpire thru this novel will keep you guessing. Its one you will start and can not put down! I loved this book! The author did a wonderful job in keeping you guessing. I could not wait to see what truth she was going to uncover next ! A MUST READ!

Review of Son of our Blood by Kathi S Barton‏

 Son of Our Blood
This book starts with Mac MacManus dreaming he is a vampire killing the girl he is drinking from.  Mac is actually a vampire but he has never taken blood from a person much less killed them doing it and he has been having the dream for years but always with different girls and all have turned out to be real.  He also is not happy being a vampire and would rather end his life.  He is offered a deal that if he will help track down the killer he sees in his dreams then he will be allowed to meet the sun, like anything is ever that simple!

I did really enjoy this book it was well thought out with the two plots combining nicely and it had a really nice light touch, the characters we met were great and quite amusing. The problem for me is that this is book 12 in the series and I kept feeling that there were inside jokes that I wasn't getting and there was a massive cast of characters that was hard to keep track of for a newbie.  However it was one of those books that makes you want to go out and find book 1 and start from the beginning rather than never touch another in the series.  If you HAVE read any of the others then I sure you would find this a total delight and this is certainly an author that will be going on my wish list!

I'm giving this 4 out of 5 stars just because I'm missing too much knowledge from previous books to know if it really qualifies as awesome!

Review of Her Warrior's Three Wishes by Carrie Ann Ryan

Her Warrior's Three Wishes (Book 2 of  Dante's Circle)

When lightening struck the bar where Jamie and her friends frequented, she never new how much life would change.

Humans have diluted the gene pool and all the different races have interbred, until humans have forgotten most of these races ever even existed. So when the lightening struck the bar, something magical happened and awakens DNA in the women that were at the bar. Jamie's best friend had brownie DNA and is now a brownie. When she had found her true love Dante, it awoken what ever was inside her. Now Jamie has met Ambrose, Dantes' best friend and fellow angle. She feels the connection between them and knows that something major is about to change and it is out of her control.

Ambrose, had a life. He had a wife he loved and children.  Now thousands of years old and his family killed long ago, he comes across a human named Jamie. He knows she is his, the one he is destined for. But with conflicted emotions, he leaves for a while, with "Angel business". He doesn't understand that Jamie suffers from his absence and changes are happening in the world where both will have to rely on one another. A Evil is about to attack and comes from Ambrose's past. The only problem is something is still missing. A connection that has to be found.

Balin Drake's days are numbered. He is at the end of his time and his father can't wait. Unable to kill him because of demon law, Balin has been a disgrace to demon kind. So while waiting for his son to die, the demon goes on as planed..destroy Ambrose. Kidnapping Jamie, he knows it will bring the Angel to him. Balin has done what most demons can't, he has never taken a soul. This is good for his soul but is ending his life. Unless he finds his life mate, he is about to die.

This is a series you can really sink your teeth into. A story that weaves through until the 3 finally find each other. Then the chemistry becomes scorching. I recommend that you read book 1 before book 2. It will make more sense if you know the history. You also learn a little about Ambrose and Jamie in book 1. I can honestly say Balin is one of my favorite characters. All are willing to fight for what they believe in but Balin was so close to death that I think he truly embraces his life with the 2. Also finding his mates just confirms his decision to not take souls was the right decision. Makes him value his decision even more. I also loved that Jamie is a kick butt warrior herself, soft and loving but can kick butt like her men! Awesome read, can't wait till the next one comes out. Very good series and author.  I highly recommend! ADULT CONTENT M/M/F menage  Thanks for the great read Carrie!

Blurb:
Humans aren’t as alone as they choose to believe. Every human possesses a trait of supernatural that lays dormant within their genetic make-up. Centuries of diluting and breeding have allowed humans to think they are alone and untouched by magic. But what happens when something changes?
Ambrose Griffin is older than most, if not all, civilizations. As each year passes, he submerses himself into his training, only relaxing around his protégée and friend, Shade. After losing his wife and children in the last Angelic Wars, he guards his heart and has no desire to share it with another.
Bookkeeper and romance novel enthusiast, Jamie Bennett dreams of being swept off her feet by a white knight. However, her life is no romance book. Since meeting Ambrose—a sexy, delicious angel—she’s been twisted inside out and doesn’t know why. Things are happening that she can’t control and now her life is in danger.
Balin Drake is stuck in hell, literally. His life of refusing to take souls, even though it’s part of his demon nature, has caught up with him. He’s dying and now must search for his true half, but even a mating may not save him. When he meets the two people who could fill that part, he’ll need to fight for something he hasn’t felt in over a century—hope.
Warning: Contains a rigid angel who needs a certain sexy woman to help him unwind, a book keeper who finds herself the creamy center of the best cookie ever, and a demon who has a certain taste for pressing them both against walls.

Review of Bloodweight by Eva LeNoir

Bloodweight
Underdogs of the Arena series
by
Eva LeNoir

As a young independent vampire, Ellen Banks takes the ring, and all eyes are on her. The lithe rebel has worked hard to get to this one moment in her less-than-stellar life. No one will stand in her way of that championship belt, especially not the powerful and impossibly salacious Nash Stanford. If only her traitorous body’s reaction would shut the hell up.

Nash Stanford, Vampire Sire of the East Coast, has been biding his time. He is a shrewd businessman and knows a good investment when he sees one. But when he looks at the incredibly sexy Ellen Banks, there is more than just money on his mind. Will she agree to work for him? More importantly, will she finally give into the hunger building between them?

This is a really fast paced read.  I usually don't read vampire books, but I enjoyed this one a lot.  The plot was fast paced & kept your attention til the very end.  The characters were likable even though they were vampires..& I couldn't wait to see how it all played out. This is the first book I've read by this author & it was well worth reading.
I rate this book 4 stars

Review of Bo & Reika (Wolf's Mate 5) by R.E. Butler

Bo & Reika (Wolf's Mate #5) by R.E. Butler

The lynx are the scourge of the earth weres with no principles.  As her days of freedom come to an end she trys going into a sort of witness protection, when her would be saviors are put down she runs to save herself from the worst possible fate there ever was.

Bo was injured at age 14 and his leg never healed properly.  The everyday pain is almost more then he can take.  He doesn't want a truemate as he thinks he can never protect her and then there is the scars on his leg, the endless days and nights of never ending pain.   When he saves a wolve from 3 lynxes he finds his truemate.  He will get rid of them then set her free of him.  Not happening,  Reika has other ideas and as a healer she will heal him in mind and body or die trying.

This story was so out there.  The beginning starts off gripping and then never stops.   I really enjoyed this story.  I read it back to back!  When I read a book I like to think hmm how would I have written it just a little bit different , well not so with this book.  It was right on with enough of everything and more of on edge, page turning,  that I read it in one sitting and then again!  I have a few in this series as my favorite books and this is one of them.

Mark and Nathan made the list for the next Corporate get away. The both have heard about this get away and not good things.  Mark and Nathan have a very bad feeling  not just from the long bus ride but upon reaching their destination.  An old home that had seen much better days.  An old home that held many secrets and did not want to give them away. The boss Jason has hand picked this batch for reason of his own.  Now Mark and Nathan see that things do go bump in the night and in the day!

Masterfully Written! Edge of my seat page turning leave the lights on in every room.  I can not say to much as I so don't want to give anything away.  Ya that good and more. Creepy yet not gory.  This is not a horror novel as it is a jump as you very carefully turn the pages!
I did leave my bedroom lights on after reading this book and yet I am drawn to wanting to reread it already!

I highly recommend this book!!
