Enjoy the following excerpt for Claiming the She-Wolf:

A growl from low in his throat threatened to escape. The rumble started in his
chest, and he fought to keep it down.
She turned, looking down at him. “Did you say something?”
“Umm, no. Just clearing my throat.”
He needed to get his base instincts under control. Recent research showed that
wolves in the wild killed in order to protect their domains and to get more space. He
didn’t want to be ruled by his wolf. He’d grown up in the city, with humans, not out
in the forest. His mom had tried to talk to him about shifting, but as a woman, she
didn’t have the same experience.
He couldn’t go to a shifters anonymous group for help with his sexual urges.
Maybe he needed to start his own support group. He snorted at the idea. At the top
of the landing, Tala turned to the right, and he followed.
They entered what had to be the master bedroom suite. It was painted a vibrant
lavender color, and the bed had a green floral comforter with an abundance of fluffy
throw pillows. White dollies rested on the two nightstands, and a vase of
wildflowers called for attention. The feminine room seemed in sharp contrast to his
host. She didn’t look frilly.
“This will be your quarters.” Her lips pursed, and she blinked a few times.
The idea shocked him. “What? I’m sorry, but it looks like your room.”
“Well, it has been. But it’s the nicest room in the house, and as a guest, figure you
should have it to be comfortable. I’ll move my things into another one.”
He waved his hands in front of him, as if shooing away something physically bad.
“No way. No can do. Give me the second best, then. My first job can be fixing it up.”
She smiled. “Well, second best would be my brother’s room, and even though he’s
on a trip right now, I don’t feel comfortable moving his stuff. So third best, and we
work today to make it more, um, livable?”
Her choice of words made him pause. “Deal.”

Shadow in Glass – J. Rose Alexander

Every little girl dreams of waking up a Princess…
…the reality, Carrie finds out, isn't exactly a fairy tale.

Carrie Whitmore, aspiring journalist, wakes up after a building collapse to find herself in a world where she is a spoiled, bratty princess engaged to a self-indulgent egomaniac. She has no college education and no friends at all. Carrie finds out that "she" wants nothing to do with the crown after the death of her brother and is happy being bitter, cruel and reclusive.

But that's the old Princess Barbara, lost in the tragic accident that slipped Carrie into the Princess's life. Carrie must change the way the people of the Nation perceive her. Her journey to learn who she is in this new world and to deal with the twists and turns of her unwillingly adopted life will change her perception of everything and everyone around her.

And maybe, just maybe, she'll get the fairy tale princess ending every little girl dreams of.

Excerpt
Carrie started hanging up the new clothes and moving out the old ones. It was a distraction from her thoughts. She wasn’t ready to be this far into her college career. This was the beginning of junior year and she didn’t want to think about going back to Yancey Home full time. Not yet. She wasn’t ready for it. Father had completely nixed the semester abroad idea with a swift stroke, but she understood why. It would have delayed her major declaration too. Carrie discovered she wanted to study everything in every class she took, and she didn’t want to decide yet or settle.
Maryann wasn’t sorting through the clothes she was removing as she had done every other time Carrie had done The Switch Over. It was odd, and Carrie stopped for a moment considering what was going on.
That was when she smelled it. Sniffing the air, she stepped back and looked over at Maryann. Maryann was studying the heal of her palm with far too much interest. “Is that…Hugo Boss for Men I smell?”
Maryann didn’t answer, and instead tried to bury herself in looking at the clothes she hadn’t otherwise been interested in a moment before. Carrie laughed. “You sly minx!” she cawed, backing out of the wardrobe. “You have been seeing someone!” Carrie walked over to the pile of clothes, and stared at Maryann. “Who?”
For just a moment, it looked like Maryann was going deny it, but then she smirked. “Terry.”
“HA!” Carrie snorted. “Terry! I knew you two were into each other! He’s spent the night here last night, didn’t he?”
The bathroom door clicked open, and Terry’s head popped out. “I never left.”
Carrie was laughing so hard she could barely breathe. “Were you going to hide in there all semester?!”
“No, I was just waiting for you to either find me or go back downstairs so I could sneak out,” He stepped out and closed the door behind himself. “Sorry. Didn’t mean to violate the sanctity of your bathroom.”
Carrie looked at him. “I’m quite sure my bathroom isn’t the only thing you two have de-sanctified this summer.” She saw Maryann blushing. “Just leave my bed alone, okay?”
Terry grabbed Maryann around the waist, dipped her backward and kissed her hard. Carrie rolled her eyes and ducked back to the job she was trying to complete in the wardrobe.

Really, Cher?: A Story with a Dog In It

My dog, Cherie – or Cher, as she is lovingly referred by family members, is calculating and very patient. I’ve sufferedCher for years. We’ve been together from spinsterhood to grandchild to marriage. She loves my husband and my daughter. She adores my granddaughter. But she hates me. Maybe hate is too strong a word?  Maybe it’s jealousy or just plain old contempt? You decided. These are her tales (or my story about a roguish she-dog with a diva complex).

Julian M. Coleman
I grew up in Richmond, Virginia, but I'm not a dainty Southern Belle. My family was poor and my childhood was harsh. I used to suffer from bad dreams. I used to dream about demons. I believe those nightmares were worse than the poverty.

The demons used to wait until I was in sleep-paralysis to scare the crap out of me. If I was lucky, they hid in the shadows. I wasn't always lucky. As I grew older, they weren't always hideous. To this day, I believe that sometimes true evil is seductive, even beautiful.

There are things you don't outgrow. You learn to cope. I did that by writing about demons.

But growing up I had allies. I discovered that love transcends nightmares. I'm a dog lover and on several fortunate occasions my dogs entered my dream worlds and saved me.

As an author, I write about seductive demons and mischievous pooches. If you want a chuckle then read about my canine diva.

But, you may want to take a darker path with me. You may want to meet my demons. If that's the case, then I want you to be scared with me -- is that so wrong? I don't just want to scare you, though. I want you to care about the characters. Because if you care about them, then you will be afraid for them. You may also feel their fears.

Who knows, you could have nightmares about beautiful demons, too.

For artist Gabriela Martinez, psychopaths do hit twice. A LOVE IN JEOPARDY In 1993, artist Gabriela Martinez almost lost her life to a sociopath’s twisted vision. If not for Richard Harrison, the operative sent to protect her, she would have ended up dead. The dramatic showdown pushed them together, but there were too many obstacles temporarily pulling them apart. A NEW THREAT After catching a glimpse of Gabriela’s new work, The Book of Hours, Arnold Wickeham has been like a man possessed. Now, he will do anything—anything—in order to claim it, and nothing, especially not Gabriela, will stand in his way. THE PAST IS CATCHING UP Richard Harrison has never given up his true love, Gabriela. Now someone new is threatening her life, and he will risk everything to protect her. But the stakes are now higher, and there is much more to lose. And, if he doesn’t stay one step ahead of the danger, her life, but especially, their future, may very well go up in flames. A LOVE TESTED In The Coin, Gabriela and Richard were cruelly used by fate—and destiny isn’t done. In the shadow of this new threat, their choices may not just save their lives, but also their love.

France, 1993. WHO EVER THOUGHT A COIN COULD GET YOU KILLED? A cunning killer trusted his secret was safe, an innocent woman holds the key to his destruction, and an intelligence officer must keep her alive before the madman can strike the fatal blow. A DANGEROUS FIND For artist Gabriela Martinez, life has become complicated: she suspects her mentor and friend wants her as his mistress, her husband is neglecting her, and her latest illustration is ruined. Seeking peace, she visits her favorite thinking spot in La Marbriére, the mountain overlooking her home in the Côte d’Azur. Distracted, she winds up in an unfamiliar clearing, where she discovers a 1945 French coin half-buried in the ground. Delighted with its beauty, she has it set on her favorite bracelet. TREACHEROUS KNOWLEDGE Richard Harrison, an American intelligence officer, is livid. A simple favor for his boss has turned his vacation in the French Riviera into a hellish assignment. Now, not only does he learn the truth about the coin, but he must also protect Gabriela from a cunning killer who will stop at nothing. TIME IS RUNNING OUT Together with Maurice Nôret, from French intelligence, Richard attempts to discover the madman’s identity, except his budding love for this beautiful artist is turning into a dangerous handicap. Every one of his moves is thwarted with brutal countermoves. Soon, the psychological games to terrorize Gabriela escalate beyond his control. If Richard doesn’t find a solution, it may be too late for them both. Set in the exotic French Riviera, The Coin is a story of hatred, betrayal, love and duty—of terrible and painful choices that, nonetheless, bring about personal triumph.

much danger.
Her writing career began circa age thirteen with a very juvenile science fiction short

Excerpt
I took the offered hand and nearly swooned. Swooned. Who the hell swoons? I stood up and followed him through the mostly empty club as the staff was sweeping and pushing tables around. He didn’t let go of my hand as we wound through the tables to the door stage right.
This time, the little bitch in my head slapped me. I was being led backstage by the man I had a severe fangirl crush on, and we were going out for food and a chat. I almost dropped my cider at the realization. I was walking backstage with Nick D. I realized I had an obligation to women everywhere at that moment–and I fulfilled it.
I dropped my eyes and I gazed upon the most gorgeous denim-clad backside I had ever seen. He walked just enough to press those firm globes into the denim and release them a moment later with the next stride. The cloth hugged him, and it was one of the most delicious sights I’d ever seen in my life. Squeezable Tush. I wondered if I could bottle it.
    “Enjoying the view?” he asked.
My eyes shot up to his, where he was peeking over his shoulder at me about to push the door open. Fire rushed into my cheeks. Let’s see, I had proved I was graceless, easily flustered, worked at a BDSM club, and had absolutely no stealth to even grab a glimpse of the World’s Most Fantastic Backside. I’d probably dump the soup down the front of my shirt.
His eyes sparkled mischievously, though, as he looked at me. I took a chance. “Hmm. It could be a little better. Could you just turn to the right a little?” He laughed, and obliged me.
Oh, it was a perfect ass.

Excerpt

“So...I'm sorry if this seems a little forward, but I've been wanting to talk to you about something,” Jay said, sounding nervous.

“What's up?”

“Well, we've known each other a while now and we've been hanging out a lot, but I'm still not really sure what we are. Relationship-wise.”

Rory immediately felt her stomach plummet to the ground. She wasn't ready for this talk yet; in fact, she'd been dreading it.

“Oh, really?” She replied. She hoped he wasn't going to push the issue, but knowing Jay, he would. She didn't want to hurt him, but she was absolutely terrified to agree to any kind of commitment.

“Yeah. And I was just wondering what you thought, because I'd really like us to become kind of an exclusive thing.”

Rory felt her throat go dry, and she swallowed and forced herself to speak evenly. “I'm not really sure, either. I mean, we're great together. I'm just not sure if we should put a label on it quite yet. I know it feels like we've been doing this forever,” she said, trying to do this the right way, “but really, it's only been like, two weeks. Maybe we should just see where we're going first. For right now, I'd just call us friends with benefits.

“To be honest,” she continued, “That doesn't even feel like the right term. We seem like we're more than that, which is why I say we should avoid labels, just for now. For now, we're just..dating.” Rory refused to look at Jay. She wasn't sure what his expression was, and if it was sadness or disappointment, then she would feel awful. So she just kept her eyes on the road and made the turns that the GPS told her to make.

“Okay,” Jay replied.

The rest of the ride was silent.

Rory pulled into the parking lot and parked next to Jay's car, they got out of the car, and they walked up the stairs and into Jay's apartment, all without saying a word. Guilt was worming its way through Rory's body, and a momentary thought flashed in her mind; was this how Matt felt when he broke up with her? Did he feel as awful about hurting her as she felt about hurting Jay?

She sure as hell hoped so.

Rory took off her coat and shoes as Jay set up the movie and popped popcorn, even though they just ate and they each agreed that they couldn't eat another bite. Now she looked at his face, and it didn't tell her much. There were no emotions, just simple focus on the task at hand. It was almost like he was on auto-pilot, going through the motions but not really focusing on them. That worried her a little bit; Jay didn't do auto-pilot, not with her. He always talked to her while he did everything, no matter what it was. This was bothering him, and she knew it.

She wanted to say something, do something to fix this, but she wasn't sure what that was, so she just sat on the couch and waited for him to finish. He split the popcorn into two bowls, as he always did, brought them over, sat down on the couch and pressed “play” on the remote control. They sat through the first ten minutes before he paused the movie and turned toward her.

“Lorelai...are you seeing somebody else?”

“What?” She gasped, putting her bowl on the table in front of her. “Of course not. Why would you think that?”

“Then why won't you commit to me? I know that's what this is about; you don't want labels because you don't want to commit. Well, I do. I want to be able to be with you and say, 'Hey, this is Lorelai, my girlfriend, and for you to be proud to introduce me as your boyfriend. I want this to be something real, and possibly permanent. Why don't you?”

Rory sighed. “Jay...I don't want to go too deep into it, but the last guy that I really committed to broke my heart. It nearly killed me, and I'll be perfectly honest; I'm terrified. Just that first dinner with you scared me, let alone the idea of fully committing to you and opening myself up to you completely. Please understand that it isn't anything wrong with you; you're amazing. I just can't shake the fear that it's going to happen again.”

Jay took a minute, and then met Rory's eyes with his own. “Lorelai, you mean the world to me. There is nothing I would ever do to hurt you, not in a thousand years. If it will take a little longer to prove that to you, then that's okay; I'll do it. But even if I can't consider you my girlfriend, I want you to consider me your boyfriend, because I'm not going anywhere. Understand?”

Rory's heart melted, and she nodded, unable to speak. She leaned forward and kissed him, and he put his arm around her waist and pulled her closer to him.

“Now that we're speaking again,” he said, picking up the remote, “Let's watch this movie and actually enjoy it. Deal?”

A girl’s senior year in high school should be a special time. Ayma’s expectations are not very high. She is the daughter of a control-freak mother and a father who has been absent for the past three years. She is ridiculed by the popular kids in school because of her unfortunate name and the way she dresses. Although she’s nearly eighteen, her mother controls every aspect of her life, including what she wears, who her friends are and even what foods she is allowed to eat. The only bright spot in her life is her friend Tabby. Until she meets Colton.

Colton is unexpected. He’s gorgeous, popular – the guy all the girls want and the one all of the other guys want to be like. When he begins to pay attention to Ayma, she doesn’t know what to think. Things like this just don’t happen to girls like her. One obstacle after another is thrown into their path, but they can’t deny what they feel for one another. Their new-found love will be threatened by secrets from their past, challenges in their present and a future they can only dream about. Ayma struggles to find an identity apart from her mother’s controlling nature while Colton faces the results of an arrest that took place the summer before his tenth grade year.

Can they find love and happiness? Or will they be destroyed by events beyond their control?

Excerpt
The song was almost over and he set down his guitar. Colton stood up to walked over to his computer where the songs were playing from. He was a sight to behold once again. He must have gotten a shower earlier because his hair was still damp. He had on a loose pair of shorts and no shirt. His chiseled chest was glistening from water and sweat. He just looked so smooth and well defined.
I started lightly clapping and walked in, shutting the door behind me. He turned to the sound, looking startled from the sudden noise. The song Figured You Out by Nickelback started playing from his computer.
“I, um, had Brady drop me off.” He was walking over to me, but in a slow motion, almost to the beat of the song. Colton didn’t say anything to me, just kept walking towards me.
I took a step backwards until I was up against the door. He took my hands in his and put them against the door, like he was trapping me in. His mouth came down on mine like there was no tomorrow for him. Colton was acting like he was starved for physical attention. He let go of my hands, but still kept me pinned against the door. His lips never left mine except to move down to my neck and nibble. He pressed his body tight against mine. His hands started to roam everywhere on my body. I couldn’t help but to run my hands over his naked chest and back.
We still hadn’t stopped kissing and we both seemed to be running out of breath. Colton moved his mouth to take a deep breath and so did I, except it came out more like a moan of pleasure. He was breathing hard and starting to sweat more. I’m guessing he had no boxers on as I could clearly feel his excitement pressed into me. His hands were now under the front of my shirt and moving beneath my bra. We’d done this before, but not this passionately. I had my hands on the back of his shorts and slowly slid my hands inside the waistband. I was right, there were no boxers. I’d never done anything like this before, the whole touching without any clothing barrier in between. My hands kept moving until they were cupping his bare bottom. I gripped him more firmly and pulled him tighter against me. Colton groaned inside my mouth and pulled me away from the door. He spun me, while we still kissed, and started to walk me backwards towards his bed.
A sudden knock on the door stopped us half-way there. “Mom said she doesn’t need any grandbabies now, so whatever you’re doing you better finish because dinner will be ready in ten,” Ezzie yelled through the door.

Charlotte Holden, Sugar's favorite pediatrician, knows better than anyone that love only leads to heartbreak. Instead, she's focused on creating the Grow Clinic, an outpatient center for children. All she has to do now is to host the best Founder's Day Parade in the history of Sugar, Georgia, to win over a big-city donor. Easy as peach pie. Then sexy Jace McGraw blows back into town and utters those three words every woman dreads: we're still married.
. . . leads to tantalizing trouble
Jace McGraw was making an offer on his dream business in Atlanta when he was told that his wife had some credit issues. Wait, his wife? The annulment went through years ago-or so he thought. He'd walked away only to keep his troublemaker reputation from ruining her dreams. But now that they have a second chance, Jace offers Charlotte a deal: he'll grant a discreet divorce in exchange for 30 days and nights of marriage. Because this time he isn't going to let her go without a fight.

Ginger Ring

The Gangster’s Woman by Ginger Ring

Now that prohibition was over, FBI agent Michael Flynn hoped to enjoy the quiet life and a chance to finally concentrate on finding his best friend’s sister. He’d been in love with her since he first laid eyes on her picture. Unfortunately, the more he searched the more he realized she wasn’t just missing. Eryn was hiding from one of the most notorious gangsters around. One who wouldn’t rest until he knew she was dead.
Eryn O’Malley had been moving around for years, doing whatever legal, or illegal job she could find to survive. No time for romance or a normal life. A one night stand with a handsome man at the county fair seemed like just the ticket to escape for a moment from her troubled life. However, finding out he was a G-man wasn’t part of the plan. Now he was on her trail. Whether to arrest or rescue her, she wasn’t sure, and she couldn’t wait around to find out. If he caught her, would he forgive her checkered past or would he always think of her as the gangster’s woman?

Excerpt
He took a seat on the bed, crossed an ankle over the other, and rested his back against the cheap headboard. Interlocking his fingers behind his head, he observed the woman in his room. Her back was toward him as she poured the liquor in the glasses.
The woman could be a movie star or one of those girls in the magazines who held a soda pop in an ad. Tall and elegant, nice round ass, and slender calves and ankles. If she was indeed John’s sister and he slept with her, there would be hell to pay, but it would be worth every glorious second. A wolf call whistle left his lips.
Eryn turned, a glass in each hand, and a slight tilt to her head. “Now, what was that for?”
“Just enjoying the view.” He winked.
“Well, then I better get closer so you don’t strain your eyes.” She took a few steps closer and handed him his drink. Damn, she was a pistol. If he didn’t calm down soon, he’d be firing off a shot of a different kind.
Eryn strolled to the other side of the bed and joined him on it. Her slender legs crossed out in front of her. He swallowed and his fingers itched to slide down that silky skin.
“Cheers.” The click of her glass touched his and he forced his eyes from her legs to the graceful fingers holding her drink.
“Bottoms up.” He downed his in one sip. Eryn took two sips and licked the rim of her glass. This time a groan escaped his mouth and he took her glass and placed both of them on the bedside table.
“Don’t want another drink?” Eryn’s gaze dipped to her hands and then back to his face.
“No, I’d rather do this.” To hell with John, he was kissing his sister.
His fingers framed her face. Her skin soft as velvet and her full lips waiting to be kissed. They didn’t have long to wait. His mouth settled on hers. She tasted sweeter than candy. The hint of alcohol lingered and made for a stimulating mix. Nipping at her lower lip, Eryn moaned and threaded her fingers through his hair. Michael deepened the kiss and echoed her appreciation.
It killed him to break the contact, but he did. Her green eyes smoldered like emeralds in the dim room light. “Stay the night with me.”
“Aye, I will,” she whispered. Her response was in an accent and words so familiar to her brother’s. He could already feel the beating John would be giving him for making love to his sister, but it would be worth it.
Michael slid down the bed and drew her across his chest. Her auburn curls framed her heart-shaped face. Auburn curls? It finally dawned on him that she didn’t even know she had a niece that looked identical to her. Taking in a deep breath, he slid his fingers through her hair. “I always had a thing for redheads, but I’ve never slept with one.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll be gentle with you.” She ribbed.
He burst out laughing. “You are something else, doll.”
“You have no idea.” Eryn promised and lowered her lips to his.
