Sarah, divorced, sold her massage business, and is now living on her own. Max is her kinda of live in boyfriend, and she is still working with Carter learning her new trade. Working as a PI or learning to be, can be dangerous. When the story starts she is breaking and entering. It is a creep that has been video taping him having sex with women, not always willingly. So when Sara is asked to steal the tapes back, she jumps at the chance to teach the jerk a lesson and hopeful send him to jail. After the job, a old high school, friend Linda and Sarah reconnect and reminisce. Talking about life and things in general, Sarah learns of Linda's very good friend. She is dying of liver failure and her only chances of surviving is finding her brother, who she has had a falling out with 3 yrs prior. When Sarah gets asked to take the case, her big heart, says of course she will help her. The only problem is, there is always more to the story than what appears. It is not a brother that she needs to find but the woman thinks her husband is trying to speed up her dying and poisoning her. As Sarah learns more, only more questions are just unearthed and the mystery deepens!! Can Sarah find out what is wrong before it is to late?

Jennifer Jennings did it again. Pulls you in the story on page one and drags you all the way through until the very end. Then at the end, you go "how the heck did I not see that or even suspect that coming?" I personally am not a mystery reader, but Jennifer caught me with Book 1, and then 2 and 3 and now 4. She is one mystery writer I always recommend for a really great read that keeps you guessing and wanting for more. Please Jennifer keep them coming and PLEASE send me any of the Sarah Woods stories. It is like reminiscing with an old friend. Thanks for the awesome read!! Contains some adult topics but nothing graphic, fine for 16 and up.

But can he protect his crushed heart from the gentle beauty in front of him.

Sean and Maddox were best friends in high school. After knowing each other for so long they are reluctant friends with lots of history. Both moving away from Racy but ending back in their home town. Both hiding from pasts that still haunt them. When Sean sees Julie, he knows something has changed. He has always had a crush on her but never did anything about it. He knows someone got her to open up and when he finds out that she spent time with Maddox, he is very conflicted. Wanting Julie for himself, he decides that all's far in LOVE and he is going after what he wants, but Maddox is willing to do what he has to do too for Julie as well. Who will win Julie's heart and will it survive the two men.

I really love these Racy stories. How can you go wrong, 2 sexy gorgeous men, drama, a little danger and some awesome love scenes? I love the stories that Tara creates. The 2 men, flawed yet very lovable and a woman who will love them both with her own issues. I will have to admit I sometimes envy these women in the story. To have 2 men who dominate, yet will do anything to keep her safe and give her what ever her heart ,mind, and body desires. Who wouldn't want that? Keep them coming Tara Rose. Adults only. This is a wonderful quick read story.  I absolutely loved the characters & had to keep reading the story til the very end.  I loved everything about the story esp. the ending..I can't wait to read the next book in this series. This is the 2nd book in this series but the first book I've read by this author, I would love to go back & read book 1, as well as any new books by this author.

Review of Beautiful Sins by Jennifer Hampton

   Beautiful Sins: Leigha Lowery from The Thaneaddus Chronicles by Jennifer Hampton is about a sophomore girl in the near future of  2026. A future when Russia and America fight and America is split in two, the East Coast and the Dark Coast. The East Coast, the dwelling of our young heroine, is constantly bombarded with terrorist attacks. Leigha, the protagonist of the story, is appalled at the idea of moving to the Dark Coast, a place she can never come back from, with Patricia, her mother, and her mother's "love at first sight" fiancee, Randy. The Dark Coast is deprived of the beautiful star known as the Sun and is a place shrouded in the shadows of the many urban legends we have heard today. Could the darkness be some paranormal phenomenon? Can the "urban legends" be true?

            OMG! I love, love, love this book! I deem this book worthy of a 4.5 stars out of five stars. The 4.5 stars is for the amazing story line and the awesome heroine. The remaining half is because there were many repeated words. One that I can think of is "perturbed." Overall, I thought the book was very well done and I absolutely cannot wait for the next one. I will be following this series with as much gusto as a "Belieber" follows Beiber. I can't wait until I get my hands on the next book.

Five stars, on steroids!

Turning 18, for Claudia Emerson, is just another day in the life, in her opinion.  However, other planes of reality have other plans.

Things are getting really weird.  For one, her dreams of a land distinguished by two intersecting roads and tall grass, dreams she’s had all her life, are getting too real.  The people in those nighttime sojourns are noticing her, talking to her, telling her to go back.  This baffles and angers her; after all, it isn’t her idea to come to this place.  Dreams are not controllable.

But is it a dream?  She meets up with Michael, a denizen of what he calls The Crossroads, which is a place between mortality and eternity.  There is no hope for it; he isn’t able to answer the question as to why she is there, and therefore takes her to a crystal dwelling he calls Halo City.

Phillip, who is obviously in high authority there, informs Claudia that she is in the thick of a population of alkins, a race of half-angels, half-humans.  And now she is in the thick of some trouble as well, for if the “fallen” (those who rebelled against angelic authority and were allied with the forces of darkness) get wind of her knowledge, they will use her to get into the tightly-fortified Halo City to wage war against the alkins.

Michael and several other officers of Halo City are appointed to watch over Claudia as she goes about her daily mortal duties, but she is harassed again and again by Aden, the leader of the fallen.  He believes that Claudia is the key to getting into the alkins’ city.  Whether she is on the job with Patty, her best friend, camping with her church group, or attending a party, Aden will not stop at trying to get her to give her soul over to him.

And when it’s discovered that Claudia is more than she ever thought she was, her protection is more important than ever.  This is a job that both Claudia and Michael learn to love.  For they have discovered that love can transcend both time and laws.

I picked up this book, planning to read a short bit of it on a flight from New Orleans to home, but I ended up reading the entire story during the journey.  It was simply too good to put down.  I’d like to say from the start that I do not read romances, but this one made me realize why this genre is so popular.  It wasn’t graphic and we didn’t have intimate bedroom scenes, which I think is the sign of really intelligent writing.  Every time something romantic and intense would come up, there would be a clearing of the throat from a third party, and some embarrassed smiles. 

Every character was clearly delineated, very believable, and a pleasure to get to know.  And the way Michael treated Claudia, the words he used to describe his love—I was going “awww!” so much I thought my fellow plane passengers might think me nuts. 

There is a section in the first part of the book that doesn’t seem to fit in with the rest of the story, but once I’d finished the last page, it was clear to me that, even at the beginning, Ms. Ting was alluding to events in her next book.

This is a story about two men Rex and Paul who grew up together becoming as close as brothers.Then one day something between the two men changed.The question is will the men walk away from this with there friendship intact, will this be the end of there friendship as they know it or will it in fact a beautiful new beginning?

I really loved this book. What I loved most about it was that the author made the characters so believable (I almost cried at one point) and so likeable (by the end I was laughing with them and cheering for them) all the while keeping the story sweet and sexy. It was really a wonderful story and I not only highly recommend it but I say if you don't read it you are truly missing out. A definite must read.

Carrie Wade isn’t certain that she’ll ever find work in her field of ancient Native American Culture.
In lost languages how many jobs are out there for this degree.  Living on the last of her savings she comes across a ancient necklace that she just has to have.  She is drawn to the necklace and its history.  Breaking down one day she puts it on and goes to sleep.  When she wakes up it is to find 3 Native American men surrounding her in their tepee.  Thankfully one of the languages she learned is theirs.  She is in the 1600 and no way home.  The brothers are banished from their tribe and on their own.  They have never seen a white woman before let alone a naked one wearing the necklace their grandmother gave them when they were banished.   What transpires is a wonderful story  of love and hope.

I really liked this storyline. R.E. butler really knows how to weave a tale and capture the reader.
This may sound like a far out there story line  yet it really works and keeps your attention till the last page.

 Samantha Thomas moved to Ashland to start her life over.   As an elemantry/middle school music teacher.  A few of her students decide she would make a great mate to their were/cat dad and a mom to them.  With some plotting to get them to meet.  Things don't turn out the way the expected, their uncle meets her first and has immediate hots for her.  He ask her out  on a date for that night.   Samaantha then has car issues on way home an a hunky cop ask her out for the next night.   Whats a girl to do?  Two hot were's want to date her and they are brothers! What follows is sizzling M/F/M la little bondage, lots of tongue, and 20 fingers all wanting to bring her pleasure. Throw in some boys that really want a mother and you have a fantasic story.

 

This is the first of a spinoff series.   You don't have to read Callies story but it would help, plus that is a fantastic story. I really enjoyed ,with a fan blowing on me to cool me off.   Very hot love scenes.  Fantasic story line.

Gabriel Nicholas is drugged and kidnapped at her front door.  Upon waking she finds her self in a room with what only a myth in history can be descirbed as a Demon.  She does not fear him,istead she wants to touch all of him, with her fingers her mouth her tongue her naked body rubbing all over him.  He is the most magnifecient male she has ever laid eyes on , even if he is a Demon.   As she looks closer she relizes that he is also a captive, with an ankle shackle and wrist bands.  He is surrounded by magical pillars that keep him in a small section of the room.   Asmodeus is the Demon of Lust, brought to this relam unwillingly with magic, to be used to furhter a very violent mans obsseion with having more  power and money.  When Asmodeus sees Gabriel he recognizes her as his life mate. He just needs for her to relize this on her own.  The passion between them heals him and fills Gabriel with wanting more of Asmodeus no matter the cost.  The must break fee or chance loses each other forever.


Well damn were to start?!  I was captivated from the very begining. Talk about hot steamy erotic love scenes this book really hit it all and fit right in with the story, and what a fantasic story. I have never thought a tail could be erotic but oh was I proven wrong.  The story itself was very captivating  and I really didn't want it to end. As always with Ms.Devereaux she weaves a story to capture you and take you on a most fantastic journey, action packed with truly increduble erotic love scenes. I Highly recommend this book!

We are all very glad you came here to JBR. Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Happy to! I’m a married mother of two young kids living in New Jersey. In the winter, I dream about the summer, and in the summer, my family and I enjoy spending time at our shore house, boating, fishing, crabbing, and clamming!

What genres do you write?
Paranormal Romance, focusing mostly on shape-shifters.

As a reader, I love all genres but my followers want to know what to expect from your books. Action, adventure, romance, sex, magic??
All of the above!! Romance, hot sex, drama, action, and magic. And sex. And love. And sex. Lots and lots of sex.

Who is your favorite character(s) from your books?
Tough question. I love all my characters in one way or another. For my Wolf’s Mate series, Linus is my favorite hero, he’s so sweet and is that combination of strong man and vulnerable little boy that makes him irresistible to me. In my wiccan-were-bear novella series, Melo is a favorite of mine, which is why I was so excited to finally have an opportunity to write his book. He’s just so sweet. And who doesn’t like a guy that can purr?

What is your newest release? Can you tell us a little about it?
My latest release is A Twitch of Tail, Book Six in the Wiccan-Were-Bear series. The lead character, Melo Thorne, was a secondary character in the first book in the series, A Curve of Claw. He was one of the heroine’s jilted lovers. When I wrote that first book, I knew that eventually I would give him a book of his own so he could have a shot at having an HEA. In this book, his brother Tahlon visits, and the two of them discover they are meant to share a mate, a Wiccan named Tera. Forces conspire against them, and they have to fight to stay together.

What about future projects? Any hints?
Currently, I’m working on the sixth book in The Wolf’s Mate series, Logan & Jenna. I’m also working on the second Ashland Pride book as well as the second Hyena Heat book, which are all slated for release in the next few months.

Can you give aspiring authors any advice?
Be willing: willing to learn from others’ mistakes, willing to make your own mistakes and own up to them, willing to take criticism with grace. Keep writing. Don’t give up.

How about some “fun” personal stuff!
I once ate a hamburger that was as big as a dinner plate. I’ve lived on both coasts. My first crush was David Hasselhoff. I never wanted to be a princess, but I did want to be a veterinarian, until allergies forced me to pursue other vocations.

What book have you read that touched you deeply? and why?
The book that made me want to become a writer is SE Hinton’s The Outsiders. I’ve read that book a hundred times. I was twelve when I found it in the library, and when I discovered that SE published the book at fourteen, suddenly I saw this whole world opening up in front of me and I started writing. My first book was what would now be called fan fiction of The Outsiders, a terrible, drawn out thing typed with a manual typewriter that will never “never!” see the light of day. But this is the book that set me
on a path that took a long time to come to fruition, but will always have a special place in my heart.

Favorite past time activity?
Hands down, it’s reading.

A favorite book or author you can recommend and why?
Laurann Dohner is one of my favorite paranormal romance authors. I think she’s brilliant at creating characters that readers can relate to and fall in love with, and her world building is amazing. My favorite book of hers is the third in the New Species series, Valiant.

Favorite place to travel to?
My favorite place to travel to is Kentucky. My family is from there, and there’s just something about crossing into the state that just feels like home to me. I didn’t grow up there, but there’s a part of me that is Kentuckian at the core.

What kind of music do you listen to?
Mostly 90s rock, although I do listen to current pop hits.

I’m happily married to the love of my life – it just took me a while to find him – and companion to four cats, two dogs and an African clawed frog. My husband says I’m one cat short of being a cat lady. *laughing*

 What genres do you write? 
Epic fantasy, thrillers, romantic suspense, and – as V. J. Devereaux – erotic romance. Oh, and one horror.

 As a reader I love all genres but my followers want to know what to expect from your books. Action, adventure, romance, sex, magic?? 
*grins* All of the above, in varying levels, depending on the book. And sex in almost all of them. 

 Who is your favorite character(s) from your books? 
Oh, that’s tough! The five friends from The Coming Storm, I think – Elon, Colath, Jareth, Jalila, and Ailith. Or the folks from The Last Resort, the great friends from The Millersburg Quartet – I’d love to go to one of Cam’s Sat/Sun morning breakfasts. 

 What is your newest release? Can you tell us a little about it? 
The newest release was the horror story. I have major respect for those who write horror regularly. I’m also a little afraid of some of them. *laughing* I’m never doing that again! It’s a creepy story about the corporate training session from hell. If you thought your boss was bad – wait until you meet Jason. Yikes! 

 What about future projects? any hints? 
Oh, lots. A prequel to The Coming Storm that takes place during the wizard wars, a sequel to Heart of the Gods involving Philippine demons, another in Peru, and a sequel to Nike’s Wings. 

 Can you give aspiring authors any advice? 
Write the next book! It’s the best advice I can give, the best marketing tool there is. And, aside from one or two rare examples (including one of my favorite books – see below), there are very few authors who succeed on one book. 

 How about some "fun" personal stuff! 
I’m desperately afraid of heights, yet I’ve gone up on ski lifts and helicopters. For the same reason I can’t scuba dive – there’s too much DOWN below me. It took me four tries – and four different boyfriends – to discover I’m a pretty good skier, but that I hate being cold. *laughing* I’m SUCH a dork. 

 What book have they read that touched you deeply? and why? (yours or someone else’s) 
To Kill a Mockingbird – a coming of age story that also showed the bitter roots of racism. 

 Favorite past time activity?
Aside from reading and writing? Traveling, exploring, learning new things. 

 A favorite book or author you can recommend (not your own)? And WHY? 
I’m waiting for the release of Glass Block – of which I’ve only seen excerpts – by Kai Wilson. It’s definitely going to be different! And I’m waiting for the last segments of G. R. R. Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire…just to finish the series. Besides, like me, he thinks sex and violence aren’t mutually exclusive, that it’s as important in fantasy to show the act of love as it is an axe cleaving a head. 

 Favorite place to travel to? 
Someplace new – Italy, Thailand, Japan. But if I had to go back, Ireland. It’s so beautiful. 

 What kind of music do you listen too?
I’m pretty eclectic, I like almost anything from classic to some rap,
but I listen to soundtracks when I’m writing, and rearrange them to suit my story.

Can you tell us a little about yourself? 
 Hi Julie, I’m very excited to be here with you all!
I’m a thirty-something-something mother of 2 who likes to read a lot and write even more. I do have a day job which allows me to put food on the table so for that I am thankful. I live in Europe with my family and travelling has always been my greatest passion. 

What genres do you write?
I mainly write erotica although I’m working on a novel that is literary fiction. This current series is Paranormal however, my WIPs are not. So, to answer your question as honestly as I can, I’m not sure I have a genre. Usually while I’m driving or taking a shower, I’ll get an idea that won’t leave me alone and it turns into a story. 

As a reader I love all genres but my followers want to know what to except from your books. Action, adventure, romance, sex, magic??
Hahaha, well, you can expect sex, for sure. The Underdogs of the Arena has all kinds of otherworldly creatures. Warewolves, shifter, vampires and soon to be witches in Book 3. 

Who is your favorite character(s) from your books?
Oh, that’s a difficult question. Ellen is definitely my favourite female. She’s feisty and fearless. She also has a less than stellar vocabulary. Stones…well, he’s just deliciously flawed. He’s been hurt and now needs help thawing out the walls around his heart. 

What is your newest release? Can you tell us a little about it?
Stone Cold is book 2 of the Underdogs of the Arena Series. Jared Stones is a kick boxing coach and has brought Ellen to her Light Weight championship. He has spent the last two years trying to forget Sloane, the female he loved more than anything. In book 2, Sloane returns to visit Ellen, her best friend and well…Stones is just a little irked. 

What about future projects? any hints?
Yes, many many things going on. First, Book 3 of the series will be Sloane’s brother Kyle. He’s actually a baddy in book two so we’ll get to see why and see the change in him. I’m also working, in collaboration with JC Wells, on a series that revolves around a Columbian Drug Ring in California. Alejandro is tortured yet hides it behind a mask of all-cocky, all-consuming male pride. There is also a stand-alone bringing head to head a environmental activist and a female lawyer paid to bring him down. There is also another paranormal series but this one will be a full novel..I won’t be able to fit it in a short story. Witches and Wizards and parallel worlds J 

Can you give aspiring authors any advice?
Write every day. Even if you think you have nothing to say. Read every day. Do research for your stories and don’t hesitate in speaking with people who have been in your characters’ shoes. But most of all, write from the heart and not because there is a trend happening. Who knows, maybe your quirky, eccentric idea will BE the next trend.

What book have they read that touched you deeply? and why? (yours or someone elses)
I have recently read Consequences by Aleatha Romig and…well, it’s just WOW! I highly recommend it. It’s not your typical love story, in fact, there are times where you actually do not think it is a love story. Absolutely fantastic piece of work. 

Favorite past time activity?
Reading. Definitely.
a favorite book or author you can recommend (not your own)?and WHY?
Oh wow. This has got to be the most difficult question ever asked. My favorite authors vary with my passing moods. I’m a great fan of John Grishman and in a different style, Paul Auster. LOVE Paul Auster. I read “Leviathan” in two days and when I finished it, I went back to the beginning to read it again. Amazing author! In the Romance genre, I’m a great fan of Lorelei James. I started with the Rough Riders Series and when I had to wait for her next books to come out, I started reading everything else she wrote. She is a truly talented author with a captivating narrative voice and great, great dialogues. Oh, and did I mention her men are…incredibly sexy? 

Favorite place to travel to?
Let’s see… Corsica would be my number 1 destination. It is an island off the coast of France and Italy in the center of the Mediterranean Sea. The culture is its own with legends and traditions only found on that small piece of land. The high mountains fall steeply onto ragged beaches that are often times deserted which is perfect when seeking out a peaceful day in the sun. The waters vary from the crystal turquoise of the shallow ends to the rich dark blue of the deep seas. With a thousand kilometers of coastal shores, there are no two places alike. It is truly the most beautiful place I have ever seen. My second favorite destinations would be a tie between the southern tip of Japan and the Bavarian Region of Germany. 

What kind of music do you listen too?
Ah, music! Like books, I have eclectic tastes. My all-time favorite band that stirs things inside me from the memories it procures would be Dave Matthews Band. But I also love to dance around to Maroon 5 because really? Who doesn’t love a man with moves like Jagger? Of course, the 80’s have left their mark on me as well with Depeche Mode, The Cure etc… And then, hail to the classics of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Pink Floyd, Led Zep, The Eagles. Can’t get enough.

Review of Killing Me Softly With Your Love by Dan Anderson‏

Killing Me Softly

 

This is a murder mystery centered around PI Chauncey McFadden who finds himself hired to investigate by two separate people to investigate two murders that have a startling connection.  He finds himself at opposite ends of society looking into strip clubs and former Judges and gets involved with government departments he didn't even know existed!

This book has proved quite difficult to review.  It is well written, it has a good, well thought out plot line that comes to a satisfactory conclusion with no loose ends and the culprit is one that I didn't work out mid way through the book.  Which by and large are the best things you can hope for in this type of book.  Now for the problems.  The entire book is set in 1980, now I am not against books not set in the current time line but I really failed to see what was gained or lost by it - there weren't even any references to the cool music I remember from my youth only bad fashion I would rather forget!  Secondly there was an awful lot of superfluous language, yes long word I know but that sums up the book,now I know that Chauncey plays a game with the owner of the news stand to use long words but the book was littered with them and I even had to look a few up. Now this is not blowing my own trumpet but I like to think that I am reasonably well educated and having worked in the insurance industry for over 20 years thought I was used to excessive prose but to be honest it threw me. Finally the was a very odd attempt at humour.  When I first started reading the book I really wasn't sure if it was attempting to be a comedy (and if it was it failed) but I finally decided that it wasn't however that made the occasional comedy moments even more bizarre, if you read it and meet the butler you will see what I mean ... This book will never be one that you can breeze through in a couple of hours but if you like to take your time on a book it could be worth it.

If you can cope with the extravagant language then I would rate this at 4 of of 5 stars

  10 years ago Michelle Edwards ran away from her boyfriend, Mac Whelan and his best friend, 

Sean O'Mally.  See, after Mac invited Sean to join them in a menage she is feeling confused and conflicted.  

So she runs.  And now, to repay a debt a save her grandparents home, she agrees to be their sub for a 

month.  The sex is hot and she can tell that both men have missed her and might just still care about her but 

she can also tell that they are holding her at a distance.  She knows she still loves both men but fears that for 

them, maybe this is just revenge for her leaving. 

Review:  What a great book.  The author did such a great job of pulling me into the characters lives.  I 

found myself feeling the highs and lows right along with them.  The men make mistakes throughout the 

story but always realize the error of their ways.  And I really love that Michelle is strong enough to walk 

away and change the rules to get the men that she loves.
