The Progeny series started October of 2010 as a dream about my hero, Ascher Rousseau. I’d had a long day at work and decided to take a little nap to combat the stresses of the day. While sleep, I dreamed of a gorgeous guy with unusually pale skin, dark hair, striking blue eyes and a strange amulet around his neck. When I awoke, I was confused and strangely exhilarated. I didn’t know who he was, but I knew that he had a story to tell. I immediately started sketching the amulet I’d seen in my dream. I am not an artist, by any means, and that picture is hideous! Only my cover artist and husband have seen it.
While I respect those who write night stalking vampires, I didn’t want that for my guys. My first call to action was to figure out a logical reason that my boys could walk around in the daytime, without burning to their death. The amulet solved that for me and also gave me the opportunity to weave in the Salem Witch Trials as a tangible sub-plot.

About Ashlynne Laynne Ashlynne Laynne has always had a soft spot in her heart for vampires but grew tired of the garlic fearing, sun-loathing creatures of old. An avid horror movie fan, she tends to enjoy media and music that is of a younger, more eclectic nature. This was the catalyst for her writing The Progeny. The vampire/witch pairing is unique and different when most books pair vampires with werewolves.
Ashlynne loves writing on the edge—combining the erotica and romance genres—and thinks of Ascher and Shauna as the wicked, damned version of Romeo and Juliet. About The Progeny Series At its core, The Progeny Series is simply about a man and woman who fall in love, and the fact that he’s a half-blood (half-human, half vampire) and she’s a Wiccan human are secondary factors. When we meet Ascher, he’s grumpy. Frankly, who could blame him?
