Title - Mormon Massacre
The book opens with one of the main characters, Jeremiah Cameron giving a report on the 1857 massacre of the Fancher-Baker wagon train. There was more than 100 people killed by mormons who painted their faces to look like the local indians.
What should have been a restfully stopping period, to trade items and
rest ended a blood bath. Men, women and yes some children were killed.
The author gives a very disturbing but yet clear picture of what
happened and how blood thirsty the mormon's were. What happened during these 4 days was simple unimaginable and heartbreaking. . . . . .
Jeremiah's
hatred for this group grows when he learns from his father, Luke, that
his mother was a former wife and suffered much abuse from her former
husband. Luke has connections with the MVAC
- Mormons Victim's Action Committee. After much discussion with his
father Jeremiah decides to be trained and go undercover into the mormon
world and try to gather as much evidence as possible to prosecute the
abusers. Jeremiah felt he was the messenger to the world and needed to
spread the truth about the mormons.
During the time
Jeremiah is preparing "Prophet Michael" is seeing visions and resurrecting the "Danites" group. The Danites was a group of militia group created when the mormons moved into Utah. They later bacame
known as Avenging Angels. They were a blood thirsty group. Michael
believes he is "Gods most Holy Prophet". A few believe he is paranoid
but follow him.
I really enjoyed this book. I normally in a fast reader but this one I felt I had to take my time and needed to make many mental
notes. I read it like a history lesson. I was simply shocked by the amount of abuse these wives go thru. The story line was excellent ! I will look for more books by this author!
