review of Fury by Laurann Dohner

Fury

If one wants to have a good book it's easy enough to create a bad character for the the main or good character to overcome. For a good series though, there has to be an evil that always remains just out of the reach of the good guys. In this case that evil is Mercile industries and they are responsible for the genetic and pharmaceutical enhancement and torture of the men and women. Ellie once risked her life to trying gather enough evidence to set the New Species free, and now she spends her days helping them learn to adapt to every day life as free individuals. Life doesn't always go a planned though. Not all humans are happy and open minded when they learn that they are not alone in the world. Ellie is the Den Mother for New Species females and that just makes her the target for fanatics. Unfortunately, it also brings her in close contact with the one man she whom the misfortune of taking the fall for her during her undercover work in the labs. After their explosive reunion Fury soon realizes he can't live without her and no one, least of all him, can understand why he keeps reacting to her the way he does. Their peace is short lived when their compound is attacked and Ellie sacrifices herself to save the women in her care as the Women's dorm is taken by siege. Of course, once the love of Fury and Ellie becomes public knowledge, Mercile Industries makes it known that they may be down, but they are not completely gone.

This is a very adult series and not just containing wonderful sex scenes. The is a very intense torture scene in the beginning of the book and there is mention of rape. Four out of five stars.
