The Maze Runner
By James Dashner
Thomas wakes up to the darkness of a box that is traveling upwards. When the box stops and opens he is greeted by the sight of boys surrounding him. He later finds out that he is in what is called the Glade. The Glade, is in a old fashioned place with little electrical power and no indoor plumbing and is surrounded by gigantic walls. Tomas also realizes that he can’t remember his past. All of the Gladers can’t remember anything from there past from when they came up in the box. Thomas learns quickly that the teens, that Alby and Newt are the first and second in command of the Glade. They teach Thomas about the Glade and where everything is. Thomas becomes friends with Chuck instantly. He learns from his friend Chuck that he’s inside a maze. Thomas and the Gladers will have to face problems and fight their way through the maze to get out into the real world.
The Maze runner was perfect. It was great and got you’ll get interested from the beginning. The pace is perfect for an average middle or high school student. All of the characters are explained greatly and make you really feel like you're in the story, even though the book is in third person. If you read the Maze Runner you should also read the other four books. You should also read them in order because the story is continual.
