Paty Jager Day 5

Indiana Jones and MacGyver with Girl Power by Paty Jager

When I was unsatisfied with a book that didn’t read like it was promoted, I lamented to a writer
friend who told me to write the type of book I’d hoped to read when I picked up the one that
dashed my hopes. And that is how Doctor Isabella Mumphrey Anthropologist came to life. We
brainstormed on a trip to a writer’s retreat and by the time I arrived home, I had the character
seated in my mind and I was ready to start writing her adventures.
Isabella has a genius IQ and a photographic memory. She is a bit socially inept due to her genius,
but she is willing to try anything and uses her Taekwondo lessons to get her out of trouble along
with an Altoids tin full of survival items. She specializes in Native American cultures which
reach from the northern most part of Canada down to the tip of South America.
In her first book she meets a hot Venezuelan, Tino Kosta, who guides her into the Guatemala
jungle. She’s been called in by a colleague to translate a tablet found at a dig. But to her surprise,
her guide isn’t a guide—he’s a DEA agent and there are artifact thieves stealing items that the
crew are uncovering.
When she and Tino get into some tight spots, her ingenuity and survival tin get them out. Writing
a genius IQ character is a stretch for my poor little brain, but finding ways to get her out of
trouble is kind of like piecing a puzzle and I’ve been enjoying the challenge.

What happens when a brilliant anthropologist is lured to the jungle to be used as a human
sacrifice?
Child prodigy and now Doctor of Anthropology, Isabella Mumphrey, is about to lose her job at
the university. In the world of publish or perish, her mentor’s request for her assistance on a dig
is just the opportunity she’s been seeking. If she can decipher an ancient stone table—and she
can—she’ll keep her department. She heads to Guatemala, but drug trafficking bad guys, artifact
thieves, and her infatuation for her handsome guide wreak havoc on her scholarly intentions.
DEA agent Tino Kosta, is out to avenge the deaths of his family. He’s deep undercover as a
jaguar tracker and sometimes jungle guide, but the appearance of a beautiful, brainy
anthropologist heats his Latin blood taking him on a dangerous detour that could leave them both
casualties of the jungle.

enough evidence to not only prove the man’s illegal activities, but to bring him down for
