Maddox Jamenson is the Omega of the Redwood pack. He has been battling emotionally with his position in the back. He feels all of the emotions of the pack, good and bad. Overwhelmed and having a hard time and now meeting a potential mate. Ellie, rescued from a living hell, now lives and has been accepted into the Redwood pack, by at least the Jamenson's. Ellie knows Maddox is her mate and the wants nothing more than to help him through his troubling times, help her new family, and get over her own past. Ellie with her brothers abuse, mental, physical and sexual, has major issues herself. Maddox has issues that not even his family knows about. With fear of the unknown, Maddox doesn't want to subject any woman, let alone Ellie, to go through and deal with what he does. How can he subject someone he cares for to the torment he has to go through? The attraction between the two is magnetic, yet Maddox has pushed Ellie toward his twin North. The question he has forgot to ask is, does Ellie want North? With emotional turmoil with Maddox and Ellie, the Redwood pack is also at war. Ellie brother and the demon Cayne are making life hard and have killed the soul of the Central Pack. Torturing and killing there own, they are bent on destroying the Redwood pack. Wanting to control and dominate, the Redwood's are the only thing standing in the way of the Centrals achieving the ultimate goal.
The continuing story of the Redwood pack werewolves, is fast and action packed, with emotional twists and turns. Carrie weaves the story so you fall in love with the characters and each book is like visiting old friends. I look forward to each and every one of her books. Carrie doesn't disappoint in Maddox's story either. Maddox and Ellie separate, are both in emotional turmoil. But maybe together they can help heal each other. We also meet some new characters. The new characters, give us a little look into the future and give us even more questions to be answered. I can't wait till the next one!
