Julie's Book Review would like to introduce Theresa Rizzo. Welcome to the site. We are all excited to meet and learn more about you.

Hi Julie,
thanks for inviting me on your blog today.

Let's start with Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I married my high school sweetheart thirty years ago and I have four great kids-- 19-26yrs old. I haven’t killed any of them yet, so I’d say I’m eminently qualified to write about families and relationships.

What genres do you write? if more than one do you have a favorite?

I write women’s fiction and romantic suspense. My favorite is the story I’m working on at the time.

What can we expect from your books? Action, sex, adventure, romance?

You can always expect an emotional read with a happy ending from my books. Hopefully you’ll find them face-paced –I try to exclude boring parts. I’ll take you on an emotional adventure with a good dollop of romance. I know sex sells, but not so much for me. Shh—don’t tell, but having sex is WAY easier than writing it. Just sayin’.

Do you have a favorite book or character of yours that is a favorite? Why?

You know, I’m the odd duck that doesn’t really have a favorite book or character. I love Sheldon on The Big Bang theory—does that count? Sheldon is so damn honest and genuine—what you see is what you get. Yet he also knows his weaknesses/limitations, like he’ll never understand women and he accepts “social conventions” even though he doesn’t understand them or agree with them. I find him very endearing—and funny. He kind of very much reminds me of my husband.

Can you tell us anything on your newest release?

He Belongs to Me is a love story . . . a tale of betrayal and deception and of a young mother's determination to recover what belongs to her.
Forced to leave her baby and tricked into relinquishing her parental rights, four years later Catherine Boyd is back and she'll do anything to regain custody of her son--even reconcile with the husband falsely accused of killing their son's twin.
All in the name of love for a little boy, generations of pain and tragedy are exposed in a courtroom drama.

Are you working on anything new? when will it be out and can you give us any details....hints?

I’m finishing polishing my next women’s fiction book, Just Destiny.
Jenny is a beautiful young woman whose seemingly perfect marriage to Gabe is shattered by a tragic accident that leaves her husband brain dead. Devastated at the sudden loss, she decides to preserve the best of their love by harvesting Gabe’s sperm for later insemination.
But her husband’s powerful, grieving uncle, the man who raised him, thinks of Jenny as a gold digger and is willing to risk exposing long-held family secrets in court to stop her.
The prospect of a grueling trial tests Jenny’s resolve, until an unexpected ally comes to her aid giving her the opportunity to win and the possibility of a second chance at happiness.

What kind of advice would you give new authors or people who are trying to get published?

Don’t expect it to be easy. Spend the time learning the craft. Be realistic. Realize that writing is the entertainment industry and subjectivity reigns. Talent doesn’t necessarily mean anything. There’s a LOT to learn, but writers are generous, fun wonderful people. Go to conferences and be an active part of a writers group.

Lets find out a little more ....How about some FUN stuff!!

favorite place to travel?

Mountains or white, sandy beach

Favorite foods?

Bacon, cheese, salad, chicken, dark chocolate chocolate-covered raisins . . .

Favorite past time?

Walking through the woods in the fall with my pup, reading, watching TV . . .

Book (not yours but one you can recommend)

The Hunger Games was brilliant—captivating and well-written

Author (one you can recommend)

I plead the fifth. There are too many to list and the ones I forgot would want to lynch me.

any pets?

Two dogs and a cat to rule them.

Finally is there any special places we can find you and your books (Links please)

It has been a pleasure visiting with you. JBR wishes you great success and hopefully you will be back here again with more reviews of your future books.

Here is a blurb/excerpt from Theresa Rizzo!

He Belongs to Me Blurb:
Catherine Boyd will do anything to regain custody of her young son . . . Even reconcile with the husband accused of killing their son’s twin.
Catherine graduates from college, eager to start a new life with her six-year-old son, Drew. But when she tries to bring him home, her parents refuse to relinquish control of the grandson they’d raised.
Wrongly accused of a horrible crime, Thomas Boyd has buried himself in his career, determined to forget his painful past and the family he lost. But now, five years later, Catherine is back, requesting his help to regain custody of their son — custody he thought she had.
Though older and wiser, when courtroom battles reveal lies and secrets and generations of pain, will Thomas and Catherine find more tragedy and loss, or will old wounds finally heal?

Excerpt:
In a life riddled with painful endings and bright beginnings too few to count, Catherine sought refuge in routine and simplicity. Ordinarily she would have dreaded the choreographed chaos of a graduation ceremony, but this day she embraced it with a light heart. She should have been exhausted from long nights spent hunched over textbooks cramming for finals, but her racing mind made sleep impossible. This was it. The day she’d worked so hard for had finally arrived. Today she would graduate—with honors. Not only had she earned her degree, but more importantly, she’d earned her son.
She slipped into her soft cotton robe and crossed the hall. Paint fumes lingered from her last-minute application of the fluffy white clouds that drifted across the slate-blue walls and ceiling. F-14 Tomcats streaked around and through the puffs, trailing vapor wakes.
The spotless room with its airplane lamp and new furniture smell held an air of expectancy. Crossing to the bookshelf, she knocked over a few stuffed animals. She tossed a Berenstain Bear book onto the desk and another across the bed, pulled out the desk chair and, opening the closet door, tugged the two shirts and a worn jean jacket askew. The jacket slid from the hanger to the floor and she left it where it fell. That was better. Now it had a more comfortable, messy, lived-in look. A little-boy look.
A boy could fall in love with this room. Hopefully her son would.
Catherine allowed herself this rare, brief moment to wish that things were different. If only the past could be erased and she could look up into the stands and see Thomas by Drew’s side, smiling proudly at her as she received her diploma. In her fantasy, both Thomas and her son were joining her in California, as excited as she was about their fresh start.
But fantasies, by definition, don’t deal in reality. Long ago, Catherine learned to suppress such futile longings. Circumstances had extinguished many of her dreams—like those of a happily-ever-after with her husband and son—but some were well within her reach. Soft light filtered
through the blinds as the sun crested the neighboring houses. Drew was probably in the air right now.
A slow smile spread across her face. After four long years she would at last be a real mom.

Thanks for stopping by. We wish you GREAT success in the future and lots of book sales!!
