Saved By A Rake
Beautiful Lady Rebecca Eversley was in her prime of life and
engaged to be married to The Earl of Newthorpe. Accompanied by her favorite
handmaiden Betty, they arrived at Newthorpe House for a vist but the unthinkable
happened and she found herself alone on the streets, fleeing in terror.
Rebecca wondered what would happen to her now, no man would
want her and she was ostracized from the Ton. Refusing to retreat to
the country away from the gossip, as her mother suggested, she summoned her
strength and stayed where she was; standing proud against those who would
try tarnish her reputation. Unexpectedly she became attracted to her
brother Jame's long time friend, Lord Ramsey. Lord Ramsey was well known as a
rake; would he bring her happiness or break her heart? Could she trust him?
A murder takes place and Rebecca finds herself fleeing London,
her heart filled with dread as the men following came ever so much closer day by
day.
I really enjoyed this book. The story kept my interest and I
wasn't sure what was going to happen. The interaction between the characters
seemed realistic and although passionate, it had an underlying sweetness to it
as well. The historical references brought an authentic reality to the story. I
would give this 4 stars.
