The Mine
Joel, a young college man, coerces his friend
to take a detour from their trip out west so he can investigate an old
mine. The friend agrees but insists that they stay only a few minutes as
he is anxious to continue their trip. He sullenly waits outside the mine
for his friend.
Encountering a scary creature and a bang on the head
Joel exits the mine and finds himself in a different world and all alone.
Using his wit and likeable personality he begins an unexpected journey that
leads him to new friendships and romance but will it bring
him true happiness or does he yearn for the life he left behind?
Can Joel find his way home again or is he
now torn between his old life and the new one.
Maybe he's in a dream world brought on by the bump on his
head.
I thoroughly enjoyed every second of this book. The
author takes you on a trip from one era into another seamlessly and makes you
feel like you are along on the journey and are surprised as he is with what has
happened to him. His depiction of the era and the historical facts make you
believe you are right there with the characters in the midst of their lives;
both good times and bad. You enjoy their happiness and feel their pain. The
main character is likeable and charming; you can’t help but be drawn into his
story. This is a wholesome book suitable for anyone 14 and over. I would
definitely give this 5 stars.
