Wild West Succubus by Lila Shaw
Synopsis:
The West has never been so wild! A determined gargoyle is on the hunt, but he didn’t count on falling
for the beautiful succubus he was sent to destroy. She'll never be tamed or broken, but can she be
saved?
***
A woman damned...
Priscilla Goodnight, a widow in the harsh Kansas frontier, has a cattle ranch to run. She can’t afford
to reveal any cracks in her tough exterior or indulge in sexual liaisons with her ranch hands. But a
hungry succubus can only exercise so much self-restraint, making discretion, disguise, and memory-
wiping her top managerial skills.
The mysterious stranger who knows her darkest secret...
Priscilla doesn't remember hiring the man with the wily smile and the flannel voice. At all. Men as
physically appealing as Hugo Desmond rarely escape her bed, let alone her memory. And how is he
able to move so fast, yet nobody notices but her?
Is she his target, his mission, or his bait?
Hugo is a gargoyle—a specially-trained executioner—sent to purge the west of evil. With succubi
falling squarely in demon territory, Priscilla has every reason to fear him...yet she can't stay away.
Hugo says he needs her help and wants to save her soul. But is redemption possible for a woman as
wicked as Priscilla, or will love thaw her heart just enough for Hugo to crush it?
Review:
4 Stars!
This paranormal romance wasn’t exactly what I was expecting when I started it, but as I read it, I
thought it was a pretty good story (I’m not into too much romance, so my rating is high though this
book isn’t really a good fit for me) I thought Priscilla’s story was kind of interesting, the fact that
she’s just trying to live her life, and make it the best she can was fitting, I like when paranormal
characters still retain their humanity. I thought that the demon hunter, coming to the Wild West
was a little out there, but as we’re reading a paranormal romance about succubuses, I figured it can
slide through, because we need some plot. Overall, the story was well written, and I think, if you love
a good western romance, or paranormal romance (or both), this short story would be a great fit for
you, it’s in the medium level of “steamy read” and the characters are pretty interesting. The author
weaved the romance in here, with some humor, and somehow kept the western theme believable,
despite all the paranormal characters running around. It’s quite a different idea to mix these genres,
but I think the author did an outstanding job with it, and pulled a great story together. I thought the
author has on original take on the paranormal creatures she works in her book, and it’s always good
to see something fresh in a genre of romance, which is filled with repeating themes!
