4 stars
I might have been able to give this book 5 stars, but there is a difference between how I view the BDSM lifestyle & how the author views the world. I, by no means, am declaring that I am correct...our views are just somewhat different. What happens between Mary Elizabeth and Devlin seems to be more of a Master/Slave relationship that should involve a mutuallly agreed upon contract with limits listed (because Devlin needed some!). Don't get me wrong - the book is erotically hot with some very naughty sex. I just struggled with a Dom that would force something on his Submissive. That's just me. Everyone knows I don't shy away from rape, but I prefer the bad guys to be the rapists.
Mary Elizabeth Seabrook has had a really tough childhood but she overcomes her struggles and tries to make a life for herself. She works hard and shimmies into a great job that she is proud of. This is where she meets Devlin. Devlin pretty much wants Mary Elizabeth, so he just takes her and tells her how it is going to be. He introduces her into the "BDSM" lifestyle and guides her sexual exploration. Hopefully, her tough childhood isn't influencing her decisions and this is truly something she enjoys and wants.
Best Regards,
