Sweeter than Wine
Terra Cavanaugh is returning
to her home, a beloved vineyard called Coeur du Vin, she left after her
father betrayed her and is not planning to stay however she finds
herself drawn in once more battling against her family, reconnecting
with local winemakers and meeting new ones and also meeting up with Jake
Vreeland who owns a kennel where he trains dogs as well as being part
of a search and rescue team.
This
book is really hard to classify, is it a love story, well yes but
probably more between Terra and her vineyard than anything else. There
is a really strong cast of characters from Terra's uncaring parents and insanely jealous
brother and sister-in-law, to the gorgeous Jake and his equally
gorgeous dogs (I loved Royal so much!), the other vineyard owners like
Lysander DuValle who is trying to prove himself to his father much like
Terra and the workers themselves, each person springs from the page with their unique personality.
I
love the fact that you get detailed descriptions of the process of
wine making even if they do all look down on my personal favourite of
white zinfandel lol You also get a fascinating look at the amazing work of dog rescue teams. Then story takes a sinister turn as someone appears to be sabotaging the vineyard!
This book is just jam packed with great stories, characters and intrigue, I really enjoyed reading it, very different to other things I have read recently as the focus really was on the story telling.
I rate this book at 5 stars

Many thanks to Julie for posting the review of SWEETER THAN WINE on Julie's Book Review. And a huge thanks to Petra for the lovely five-star review itself. I'm delighted she liked the book, and hope readers will enjoy the story as much as I enjoyed writing it.
