Caia Fox Day 2

Love Three Ways (The Complete Collection)

Title: Love Three Ways

Link: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00RCFFFMO

Blurb:
When 21-year old Gemma exchanged heartbreak and a bleak future in London for a new job working as an au pair for the Kennedy family in New York, she didn’t expect to experience a deeper love than she’d ever known or a side to her sexuality she hadn’t known existed.

But it was thrilling all the same. Thrilling and addictive.

Excerpt:

“Why don’t we play a game?” Mrs. Kennedy said.

“What did you have in mind, honey? Not one of your usual riotous games. You don’t want to shock poor Gemma. I’m sure she’s not drunk enough for that,” Mr. Kennedy said. “Or maybe, you’d like to see Mrs. Kennedy when she’s not behaving herself?”

Gemma laughed. She had an idea that Mrs. Kennedy could be pretty outrageous from the past few days, and surprisingly in her drunken state was interested rather than embarrassed to see where this would lead.

“What about the three wishes game, honey?” Mrs. Kennedy said.
“Oh, and what three wishes do you have right now?” Mr. Kennedy asked her, with a sparkle in his eye.
“For one, I’d like another drink because my glass is quite empty,” and she knocked back a good inch of brandy before passing the empty glass to her husband, with a giggle. Mr. Kennedy handed her a refill and topped up Gemma’s glass before she could protest.

“Two, I’d like you to light the candles— it’s getting dark in here.”
“Oh, I think, we can arrange that.” Mr. Kennedy got matches from the mantelpiece and lit a whole host of candles around the room, so it looked like a fairy grotto. Gemma was entranced by the flickering light. “There you go honey. Your wish is my command. What else would you like?”

Forever Grateful (Lake Shores Series #2)

An atheist woman. A Christian man.
And an unknown enemy that can bring them together…
or tear them apart forever.

Faith. For Melanie Moore, faith was nothing more than a useless word, valuable only to those of the faint-of-heart. And with everything life had thrown at her, Mel was anything but cowardly. Rely on yourself. Trust no one. Those rules kept her walls up, her heart guarded and her life uncomplicated.

Alex Lambert sees more in Melanie than she's willing to believe, despite her troubled past. He sees a future filled with faith and love. She tries to push him away, but Alex is a Navy man. Quitting isn't in his vocabulary. He's going to stick to his plans of helping Melanie believe in trust and love again until the very end.

Review of Passing Notes by D. G. Driver

Passing Notes by D. G. Driver

Mark is a quiet high school boy who has had a crush on Bethany since 7th grade.  He starts getting relationship advice via some “old” notes and if he doesn’t follow the advice, things start going wrong.

I really enjoyed reading this novella.  It was very well written and the author was able to pull me into the story and keep me there.  It had a surprise ending that I kind of figured out before hand, but I wasn’t sure and was pleasantly surprised that I had it right.

5 out of 5 stars!

Dorrie Rodgers left three men behind in New York when she moved to L.A. to dance the lead in a movie. Engagement to a powerful producer made her life complete. But an accident ended both her career and her engagement. After three years of struggling along teaching yoga, Dorrie is hired to choreograph a movie. Wanting to share her joy at this fabulous chance to resurrect her career, she is determined to end her single status. Questioning her decision to leave each of three attractive men five years ago in New York, Dorrie returns to the Big Apple for one more day with each. Was she hasty in her decisions to leave them behind? Will one of these men make her change her mind? Will her return to the past bring the love she is seeking or will loneliness propel her back into the arms of the one man who broke her heart?

I loved this book.  Dorrie is the perfect example of a person contemplating where they may have went wrong in their past.  I love the plan she comes up with to go back and seek out the guys she left behind.  You'll have to read the book to find out how it worked for her but I guarantee you won't be disappointed.  I was pleasantly surprised by the ending.

GRIFF MONTGOMERY, QUARTERBACK, FIRST & TEN SERIES

Short Excerpt
“Who do you like better, Lauren or me?” The quarterback cracked open an eye to
glance at the bathmat.
The pug yawned and shifted position.
“Yeah, Lauren. I know. But you’ve been with her a lot longer. I’ll grow on you.
Trust me. I’ve already grown on her, haven’t I?” He chuckled, his lips turning up
in a sly little smile.
Spike snored.
“You don’t have to admit it. She likes me almost as much as she likes you.” He
dunked a loofah then squeezed soothing droplets on the biceps of this throwing
arm.
The only reply from the sleeping pooch was a soft snort.
“Okay, okay, maybe not almost as much. But I’m getting there.”
Silence.
“I get why you like her best. She’s amazing, isn’t she?”
The soft burr from Spike answered the question.
“Yeah. I know. And pretty. She’s got the cutest little—”
A knock on the door made Griff jump and slosh water on the floor. He swore.

Snippet
“Do you want me to stay with you?”
“Please. I don’t want to be alone.”
He got in beside her and tucked her against his chest. She snuggled down.
“Look there,” he said, pointing. “See the moon? It’s full.”
She nodded. He was lying behind her, his arm around her middle, holding her fast.
Lauren laid her hand on top of his.
“I’m here. You’re safe. Close your eyes. I’ll be right here if you need me.”
“Thank you,” she whispered and brushed her lips against his arm. Griff kissed her
hair and tucked his knees up under hers. The warmth from his body soothed her.
Her muscles relaxed as she stared at the moon for a moment before falling back to
sleep.

Blurb
He wanted a wife. She didn’t want to get married – ever.  Not exactly a match
made in heaven. Ten years ago, Griff Montgomery, star quarterback of the Kings
and womanizer, became a stand-in father for his widowed sister’s kids. After they
moved away, Griff wanted his own family. But where does a “player” go to find
his ideal mate?
Having sworn off marriage forever, Lauren Farraday barely kept her life together
after her divorce. With her career shaky and depression closing in, the last thing
she needed was a courtroom battle with a sexy athlete.
Wary of Griff’s reputation with women, and hiding a secret, Lauren holds on to her
heart.  Can the quarterback handle the truth or will he walk away, like he has in the
past?

2113 ~ Originally released as part of the EROS - Indie Erotic Author Challenge 2015:1
What would happen if the world's bee population was to be wiped out?
Scientists estimate that the world's human population would have a life expectancy of approximately 100 years.
Fact: in 2014 Scientists killed large populations of bees, amounts exceeded the hundreds of thousands by planting genetically modified crops. This is the basis for my Post Apocalyptic short story.
This may be a short story, but it will have you wanting more.

This was way different from this authors normal books but it was well worth reading.  Good strong characters & a plot line to keep you reading.  I've read several books by this author & she never disappoints.  Can't wait to read more.

Review of The Serenity Stone Murder by Marianne Jones

The Serenity Stone Murder
Marianne Jones

Margaret and Louise, along with Vincent, Louise's dog take off for a women's retreat in Thunder bay. Thunder Bay is a quiet little town on the shores of Lake Superior. Like all the big towns, they have their fair share of issues. Looking for a weekend to get away becomes more than sleep, peace and relaxation.
Thunder Bay is rocked with a disturbing murder that takes place in the church garden of all places.

Casino manager, Doug Whalen, was found murdered, in the church garden. The weapon of choice used was none other than a decorative rock with the words SERNITY on it. Doug was not a well like man and had a long list of suspects, BUT finding which one actually did it was the mystery. Margaret and Louise decided they need to stay and do some super sleuthing. With the clues stacking up they get closer and closer to finding who done it.

This was a wonderful cozy read! I enjoyed all the characters and the little bit of love story mixed in. My favorite of course would be the caramel corn eating dog Vincent! This is one that I would love to read when the snow is falling with a warm blanket, my fur baby and some hot cocoa :) Sit back and enjoy !!!

Naya's Invasion (Fallen Invasion Series, #2)

#08673 could feel that that all of the members were safe and hidden.  The humans from the
kill were in facilities and placed into machines created by his species.  The wounded humans
were scattered throughout the town.  Naya’s kill lie still where she left him.  She told the others
no one was allowed to touch him.  He was hers.

The school bell was about to ring in 20 minutes, releasing 181 high school students.  They
had a half day.  #08673 didn’t want the children to see the attack, so he made the call to 911.
“911, what is your emergency?” the woman on the other line said.
“Yes, miss,” #08673 said in a panic.  “Something terrible has happened here in Greele.  I
was just . . .”
“OK sir, can you give us an address?”
“They just . . . they’re just dead or something!  Something attacked!  Please help! Please
hurry!”
“We will sir.  Can you tell me—?”
“Downtown Greele.  The police are dead or gone too!  Please!  I have to go.  I don’t know
what is out there!”
#08673 hung up.  He didn’t worry about the police tracking his “phone.”  He silenced the
signals himself.  After all, he was the phone.
“Can you believe they have little devices to call?” he said.  “I can’t even remember having
one.  I think my parents said something about these devices when I was small.”
“They are humans Kal,” Naya said.  Kal was part of a name that he said he remembered his
parents calling him when he was little.   #08673 was his name ever since then.  “Let me ask you
something,” Naya continued.
Kal looked at her.
“How do you remember so much?  I barley remember their faces.  It was so long ago.”
Naya felt an extreme amount of sadness.  More than she felt in years.  They were trained not to
have emotion, but ever since Naya took a step on earth the training started to crumble.
“My parents knew it was coming, so they told me.  They said to remember.”  Kal looked
toward the ground.  “This place— it is doing something to me.  I feel more.  I remember more.”
“Me too.  Maybe that’s why we are invading . . . so we can feel again.”
Kal shook his head and looked out of the window.  “Naya, I don’t think they knew.  They
don’t want us to feel or think.  Just do.”
He looked at her.  She felt his emotions.  He no longer wanted to be one of their best
warriors.  What if what they were doing was wrong?  What if they were sent to the planet to
exterminate and control humans so no other way of life could exist?  So they could control.  The
higher up, that is.

Celebrate all things New Orleans . . . with these stories from Frank Borne

Product Details

The Captain and the Queen
Amazon Purchase Link: http://amzn.to/1eW88fC

The Captain and the Queen is a celebration of all that is New Orleans. This is not just a sweet
romance, but a glimpse into the very heart of the Crescent City and gives you a chance to experience the inner workings of Mardi Gras. Baxter Edwards, the captain of a Mardi Gras Carnival krewe struggling in changing economic times, selects a celebrity, Lyle Alexander, to serve as its monarch. Baxter is convinced his choice will infuse the club with much needed vitality. But when he chooses his best friend’s college-age daughter, Claire Boudreaux, to serve as queen, Baxter is surprised when he and Claire develop feelings for one another. Their love for New Orleans unites them but their age difference threatens to keep them apart as the disapproval of family and friends presents obstacles for the cross-generational relationship. Should Baxter leave Claire alone to graduate and begin her career without the pressure of dating a man in a different phase of life? Come to the Big Easy and let the good times roll.

Excerpt:
Baxter noticed she was having difficulty removing the crown, which had become snarled in her
golden locks.
“Ouch. Something is caught.”
“Here. Let me help you.”
He stood at her side and assisted her in untangling her hair from the ornament. She pulled bobby pins
holding the hairdo tight and compact except for some wisps of curls hanging at the back of her neck. The motion released the crown from her coiffure, which fell with grace to her shoulders.
“Well, there you go.” Baxter took the crown from her and held it while she ran her fingers through her hair and shook her head.
“That’s much better, but I need a brush.”
“I’m sorry I didn’t go to the play. I was selfish.”
“No, it’s okay, Bax. I see what Sancus means to you.”
“I’m bad about letting the club rule my life, though. It has gotten in the way in the past. I need to
change. I have to remind myself of our theme, ‘All You Need is Love.’ That’s what’s important.”
“I think you just showed the whole room a lot of love.”
Baxter was captivated by Claire’s beauty and understanding, while she appreciated his sensitivity and
admired his mature, yet boyish good looks. He put his hand on her hip, pulling her toward him as she
placed her hand on his hard chest. Claire sighed and closed her eyes, preparing for what she hoped was a long and sensual kiss. However, they flinched when Kathy knocked on the door, summoning Claire so they could go home.
“Yoo hoo. Claire?” Her mother opened the door in time to observe the pair embracing and about to kiss, with the crown in Baxter’s hands preventing their bodies from becoming one.
“Yes, Mom?”
“Your father and I are ready to go. The crowd is pretty much gone.”
“Okay.” She took the crown from Baxter and headed for the door. “Thank you, Bax. It was a great day.”
“Thank you. They loved you.”
Claire slipped past her mother, who gave Baxter a judgmental glance before also leaving.

The Captain of Her Heart
Amazon Purchase Link:  http://amzn.to/ZCCMDS
The celebration of New Orleans continues and the heat is turned up when Claire Boudreaux returns
home from college and finds herself torn between her father’s best friend, Baxter, with whom she has a mutual love for New Orleans heritage and has known all of her life, and a co-worker, Jared, an
accomplished investigative reporter who mentors her as she embarks on a career as a television news
reporter. She loves them both, and struggles to make her own decision despite external influences. Will Claire and Baxter’s age difference and disapproving family members cause her to choose Jared? When Baxter, Captain of the Krewe of Sancus, becomes embroiled in a scandal involving corrupt city officials, will Claire wash her hands forever of him and his Carnival activities and political machinations, or will he become the captain of her heart? Come back to The Big Easy where the good times continue to roll.

Excerpt:
“I see that you have Mr. Crawfish over your shoulder, and a spacewalk the kids seem to be
enjoying.”
Milton danced and waved before patting Claire and Baxter on the back.
“That’s correct. He’d better watch out or he’ll end up in that pot over there.”
Baxter did his best to provide levity, but the tension in the air was palatable. Milton put his claws to his face, and then scurried out of camera range.
“Later we’ll have games for the kids.” Baxter paused, seeming to lose his train of thought, having
become entranced by Claire’s beautiful blue eyes. Fleeting memories of the intimate dances they’d
shared flashed through his mind. “Uh, our members feel blessed that their children are in good health.
This is their way of giving thanks while helping others who aren’t as fortunate.”
“Well, you have great weather for the event. We wish you much success.” Claire faced the camera for the sign-off. “This is Claire Boudreaux reporting from City Park.”
“I’ll get footage of the kids and the cooks,” Dillon said as he removed the camera from its stand.
“Good. Thank you.” She kept her back to Baxter, wishing he’d leave before she turned around.
“Claire, can we talk?”
“We need to leave. He has to shoot footage of the Causeway,” she retorted while winding the cable
around the microphone.
“I do miss you, Claire. You can’t imagine how many times I’ve wanted to call you.”
“Really?” Her whole body trembled.
“Yes,” he admitted, moving closer to her. “Things changed after you returned to school. I went back to work at the firm, and you were busy with your last semester. I didn’t want to mess up your future.”
Anger and hurt warred in her heart. “That’s my mother talking—and your daughter.” She folded her
arms and looked at the face she’d seen so often in her dreams. “Their concern about our age difference isn’t genuine. You should have seen through that.”
“You’re right, I—” Baxter pushed his hand through his hair.
Claire didn’t wait for him to finish. She blurted out the words. “Let me tell you what happened, Baxter.
You got caught up in the romance of my being queen
and you being the big shot of this organization, which, by the way, is all you care about.”
“No, I care for you, Claire. I do.” He touched her arm, but she jerked away. “May I see you again?”
She noticed that Dillon had obtained the extra video and was packing up the camera and its stand. “I
have to leave, Baxter. If it counts for anything, I’m glad to see you had a nice turnout. You picked a
worthy cause to support.” She swallowed hard. Some things just weren’t meant to be.
Baxter stood watching as the young reporter and the burly cameraman returned to the van. Suddenly he found himself alone, and even though he was surrounded by all of his friends, he was lonely.
