review of Dark Instincts by Suzanne Wright

Dark Instincts
by Suzanne Wright

Marcus a enforcer in the Phoenix werewolf pack, is kinda a male slut. Doesn't want any commitment or relationships, just a romp in the hay when ever he has time. The Mercury pack and Phoenix pack connected loosely through  friendship, family and working together in past problems, start to become even closer. Nick the alpha of the Mercury pack has a sister Roni, also an enforcer and a strong dominant female. She has earned a reputation of being able to take care of herself and pushes most others away.

Marcus and Roni meet and Marcus is turned down for probably the first time in his life. Roni has no intention of doing anything with Marcus. Which makes him want her even more. The chase is on.

As Marcus tries to get closer to Roni, more and more of her past is revealed. After a plot to kidnap a child of the alpha of the Phoenix pack is foiled. A danger is discovered and is connected to Roni's past. As more of the story is uncovered they find it may be a problem that goes even to the council.

Will Roni let Marcus close enough? Will Marcus be able to bond and actual commit to someone, even when his past comes to light as well? And will the Phoenix and Mercury pack be able to stop the atrocities happening and find the shifters that are the cause?

I have been reading Suzanne Wright for a while and I have LOVED everything she has written. These are stand alone books but you will get more out of them if you read each one in the series. I love the Phoenix pack and every member. Greta, still one of my favorite characters. I really enjoyed seeing all the other characters. It was like visiting old friends. My favorite line in the book and I almost fell out of my chair laughing "Run Alpha boy".....you have to read the book to understand but LOVED it.

Keep them coming Suzanne

review by Lord of the Bears and Lord of the Bears 2 by Jess Hayek

Lord of the Bears  and Lord of the Bears 2
by Jess Hayek

Logan is the last of his kind and searching for his mate. Years upon years he has searched for the woman who can give him a family. Immortal and falling in love has been hard to handle because he will never grow old and his love grows old and dies. With no other bears to share his life with, humans are his only option. Try, try again and hopefully he will find who he has been searching for.

Book 1 Lord of the Bears, is basically where Logan introduces Jenny to the shifter world. I really enjoy and sympathize with Logan's character. Searching for your mate because he doesn't want to be alone is a worth while chase. Jenny's character, a waitress, is very agreeable to going with Logan. Jenny's character is a little less believable to me. She doesn't really question anything and believes everything.

Book 2  Lord of the Bears 2, Jenny and Logan learn more about one another. A old girl friend brings a new layer of strange. The ex is a shifter and immortal as well but unable to give Logan the family he wants so badly. Danger from the local werewolves adds a element.

These books read like a TV sitcom episodes, very short books. They are not really read alone type books. They really don't have a HEA endings. Over all the series so far is okay. I'm curious at where the author is going to take the characters. Jenny is not a strong female character, she just kinda goes with the flow and a follower. Logan is the typical strong alpha male we all know and love. Okay story, a good premise, has some promise, will read more to see where the story goes.

3 1/2 round up to 4 stars looking for more in the next episode

Review of Sterling - A Montana Dayton Novel Lynn Thompson

Sterling - A Montana Dayton Novel
Lynn Thompson

Montana is back :) She is visiting her sister, Zoe, brother in law, Shawn and 3 year old niece Charley. While visiting a blast from the past finds Montana. Not sure how she still feels about Max, its been proven that his feelings are still there and strong. The one thing Montana does feel is others emotions and intentions.  Although she has been taught to mute them, there are some that just are to strong.

The story gets going when Montana wakes up wearing a necklace. This is only the beginning of her jewelry collection. Montana is scared and just stumped on why and where ??? How can you be a jewelry thief and not know it ??

Max soon finds him a job to stay busy. He was hired to find a stolen pendant from a wiccan store. Not just any pendant but one that is protected by a charm.  No one knows what the pendant is or how to use it.

I just love Montana and her adventures. She is just seems to want to enjoy a simple vacation with some peace and quiet . . . but just can not seem to find it. I love the fact that Max tracked her down. Great story well written and the characters fit so well ! I hope to read more of Montana's adventures.

Mary J Williams Day 1

I'm giving away a $25 Amazon gift card.  (See Rafflecopter on the right hand side of the page)

First why don't you tell us a little about yourself?
Hi.  My name is Mary J. Williams and I live in Washington State.  To say that romance novels are in my blood would be putting it mildly.  I started reading them at an early age.  Too early, if I'm being honest.  I was so obsessed  that I grew my hair long so that I could look like the heroines on the covers of my favorite historical romances(only the hair matched).  Now my love is contemporary romances and I've just published my very first.  It's been years in the making but now that I've started I never plan on stopping.

If I Loved You (Harper Falls #1)

Newest release? My newest, and first, release is called "If I Loved You".  It's book one of my Harper Falls series.  All the books are stand alone reads, but the characters will interact with each other in all the books.  Book one is about Rose and Jack.  They both have secrets but the attraction between them is so strong that they decide to take a chance and see where it goes.  Jack is determined to convince Rose that love is possible, not matter how deep her emotional scars.  Throw in a really cute dog and some hot sex, and I think you'll enjoy the journey of these two characters.

Do you have a favorite character in your stories? Who? and Why?
I really felt for Rose.  She had a tough childhood but was determined to make something of herself and never have to rely on a man to buy her things or support her.  It is difficult for her to open her heart, and her journey to love is not easy.

Give us an interesting fun fact or a few about your book or series:
Harper Falls is not like any real town, but I would love to live there.  Economically sound and full of really hot men.  They keep moving there, too.  In books 2 and 3 there will be an influx of more eye candy.  And they aren't just easy on the eyes.  I would love to meet even one man like the heroes in my books, in Harper Falls you get three.

Has there been any other authors who have inspired your work or helped you out with your stories?
My favorite author is Nora Roberts.  I can't begin to aspire to her greatness, but she is my inspiration every time I sit down to write.

What can readers who enjoy your book do to help make it successful?
I know every author hopes that readers will take the time to write a review, and that would be great.  I say review away.  But what I really hope is that my readers connect with the stories and have a great time for a few hours.  Maybe they will tell their friends and want to come back for more of my stories.

Do you have any tips for readers or advice for other writers trying to get published?
I guess the most common advice all would be writers get is just to do it.  I know it sounds simple but if you don't put words to paper you can't get anywhere.  I know from experience.  For years, I wanted to write but something always stopped me, mostly my fear of not being able to do it.  Now that I've finished my first book I can't imagine ever stopping.

Can you remember one of the first things you wrote? What makes it memorable?
The first thing I ever wrote, and I still have in a box somewhere, is fanfic about my teenage crush.  I loved a certain singer and had to put in words how much I worshiped him.  It was so bad and embarrassing I would hate for it to ever see the light of day.

Where do you gather most of the inspiration for your work
I'm not sure about inspiration.  I love a love story and I need my happy endings.  In "If I Loved You" I started with the idea of three best friends who grew up in a small town, moved away to see the world, and came home to where it all started.  I can identify with that.  I think most of us dream of something different than what we grew up with.  But often we find our way home again.  That's what happened to me and to the three women in my Harper Falls series.

Here's a bit of my book, "If I Loved You".  Thanks for taking the time to get to know a little about me.  I hope you enjoy my book.

PROLOGUE

IT WAS SOMETHING out of fairy tale.
Thousands of flickering lights dazzled her senses, almost as much as the tall, wickedly handsome man who so expertly danced her onto the shadowed balcony.  The music that filtered from the nearby ballroom only added to the already magical atmosphere.
Women dreamed their whole lives of a moment like this— prelude to a happily ever after ending.  Ever so briefly, she let herself drift into that fantasy as if she was one of those women.  For a moment, she let herself pretend that her childhood had been filled with the kind of whimsy that allowed those fantasies to be carried over into adulthood.
But no, she wasn’t a romantic, hopeless or otherwise.  She didn’t want a prince to sweep her into his arms and carry her away on his faithful steed.  She was more than capable of rescuing herself.  And she preferred it that way.
The stars were in the sky, not in her eyes.
“I’m glad you asked me to dance,” her partner whispered, pulling her closer.
Suddenly she was nervous.  The champagne she had downed earlier had completely worn off.  No more floating on a cloud of false courage.  If she was going to do this, she was going to have to do it on her own.
“Jack,” she said.  Damn, it was hard to sound seductive when your voice squeaked.  “Jack.” That was better, lower and slightly husky.  She’d read somewhere that guys liked husky voices.
“Rose.”
“Yes?”
“Nothing, I just thought we were saying each other’s names.”  He put his lips next to her ear.  “I like the way you say mine.”
“Jack.”  Good Lord, she had to stop repeating his name.  “I need a favor, Jack.  A big one.”  Or should she say, she hoped he had a big one.  Rose groaned to herself.  At least she hadn’t said that out loud.
“I’ll help if I can.”
“You’re the only one who can help.”  She took another deep breath.  “I need you to take me home and screw my brains out.”

Review of 100 Nightmares by KZ Morano

100 Nightmares
KZ Morano

100 Nightmares is made up of 100 dark and creepy and yes alittle freaky stories. The author made sure to keep each story at 100 words, IMPRESSIVE I would say ! Each story has its on little creepy twist. By far my favorite was the fractured nursery rhymes! The one that sticks out the most is "Ever After" and "The Return from the Rabbit Hole. There is not to much I can write due to giving the whole story away ! Its one that you will be consumed with in one sitting. Its a wild twisted ride from start to finish :) Morano did an outstanding freaky fantastic job  ! !

5 freaky stars :)

Cassandra L Shaw Day 5

GRAVE ROBBER FOR HIRE. Adult Urban/Paranormal Fantasy Mystery.

“A funny, suspenseful thriller that grips you from the beginning and pulls you into a
weird and twisted world of missing art, supernatural evil, and plain, old-fashioned greed!”

Where does Grave Robber for Hire site in genre wise?

Grave Robber for Hire turned out to be a mix of urban fantasy, romantic elements, horror scenes, is
a mystery/suspense, and is written in a slightly offbeat female’s POV. This mix made it hard to tick a
genre box, even a sub-genre box.
I didn’t start writing it with the idea of tossing a handful of genres into a blender and seeing what
poured into the glass in the end. In fact, it wasn’t until I had to play the name the genre game that I
realized it didn’t fit into a neat slot.  I might have done some serious head on desk banging here.
At first I thought this was a disaster and would have to relegate a story I’d love writing to my, oh well
I tried, box. But then I realized many stories / series I love are a genre blend or don’t follow an strict
genre rules. I enjoy the Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones, the Fever series by Karen Marie
Moning and neither fit into a neat slot. The Fever series especially doesn’t—which is why I loved it.
I personally feel a mix up can make a story stronger, give it that interesting twist that takes the
reader on a bit of fun or wild ride beyond the norm, stops stories from being cliché.
I mean if an author follows the rules all the time we’d still be writing like authors from four hundred
years ago. And for me, beyond a few stand out exceptions from much earlier eras, most would put
me to sleep—many I tried to read have. Although I do love a bit of Jane Austen and several Bronte
books have found me stuck in a chair while I read just that bit more.
Some stories I write will fit neatly into a pre-defined slot. I am currently waiting publication of a very
definite Paranormal Romantic Suspense, and a neat fit into a single title Contemporary Romance but
I can see I will also write a few more Urban Fantasy with a twist tales yet.
I avidly believe in the statement: write what you would like to read.
So I do.

Here’s another fun excerpt from Grave Robber for Hire.
“Bed you lot.” I patted Jasen, pointed to the other end of the house where dog beds lay, and
walked to my room. Stripped to my thong, I waited to hear Tyreal’s shower finish so I could have one
too. I dug around and found an aged soft t-shirt to sleep in, since I had a guest, and laid it on the
bed. At the thunk of plumbing being turned off, I grabbed a rich green Chinese dragon silk robe and
shook it out.
“Whoa, nice butt. Sure you don’t want to change your mind about that bed sharing?”
Tyreal’s husky voice sent flames of desire licking over my bare skin.
“Eek.” I started shoving my arm into the robe and got tangled. A hand, not mine, eased
around and tugged at a long bell-shaped sleeve until it slid over and off my head.
“I think your arm goes there.”
I flushed for a heap of reasons. “Thanks. Now get out.” He was too tempting, and I really
needed a working partner. Sleeping with said work partner would be bad. Yes, Angel, bad, very bad.
Sometimes life’s disappointing, especially when my own morals interfere.
“I have to say the décor in that room is even more spectacular than I expected. You do know
there’s a huge marijuana plant in that bedroom?”
Unk. I thumped my palm to my forehead. Freaking hell, I’d forgotten about Aunt Glynnis’
mammoth dope plant.
And Tyreal’s an ex-cop—brilliant. I’d definitely guzzled too much wine. Play dumb or admit
it? Play dumb. I can do dumb.
I looked at Tyreal. “Plant? Plant? Oh that. It’s not marijuana. It’s a rare palm. An Indian palm to go
with the room’s theme.” Hee hee, nice touch. I added a little breathy laugh.
The corners of his lips twitched. “Indian palm?”
“Yep.” I stared at him. See I’m not lying, I’m looking at you eye to eye.
“Healthy. Looks well-tended.”
“It is. I fertilize and water it, prune it when needed.” Was he believing this bullshit?
“Do you smoke or sell the prunings?”
“Shit, neither. I’m no dope head.” So, no Einstein award for me. I must still be shit-faced
from the wine. That’s what I told myself to make me feel less fake blonde.
“Okay, fine. It was Aunty Glynnis’. She developed that cultivar over fifty-five years of
smoking and growing the stuff. I don’t have the heart to get rid of it.”
“But you don’t smoke it?”
Geez, he acted as if owning it was committing a crime. Oh yeah, it was. “No. Not since I was
a teen. It messes with my gifts.”
He scowled. “So …,” his gaze travelled down and his scowl smoothed.
Christ, it really wasn’t my night. I pulled the gaping edges of my robe together and held them
in place.
His grin was cheeky with a touch of wistful. “You keep a plant that would land you in jail for
possession, and since it’s huge, perhaps dealing, in memory of your aunt?”
I bounced on my feet a couple of times. “Sort of. I just don’t really know how to get rid of it.
The plant’s so healthy.”
“It has heads a foot long.”
“Yeah, Aunty Glynnis would have been thrilled. I fertilize it with goat and chicken poo. Do
you want me to move it to another room?” So you can pretend you never saw it?
“What—out of sight—out of mind?”
“Works for me.”
“I bet. If your aunt smoked dope, didn’t she have your gift? I thought she started your
business.”
“She was the founder in the sixties. She had some of my gift but not as strong. So the dope
didn’t affect her, or she developed immunity.” I re-adjusted my robe. “She smoked three times a day
after she took on raising Sasha, my brother, and me. Before us, when her husband was still alive, she
smoked whacky weed all day.”

Do family legends hint at long lost treasures? Have handwriting from ancestors I can read to
jump-time? Then call, Angel Meyers.

No psychic readings or ghost exorcisms (that’s not my gig).

Angel Meyers loves cheesecake and hot men, possesses I-catch-cute-guys cleavage, and is
the only person she knows with her gift. Her talent for touching handwritten documents and
connecting with the mind of the writer, dead or alive (usually dead), lets her delve into the
past and locate lost family treasure for her clients.

When she’s hired to locate a Rembrandt lost one hundred and fifty years ago, Angel sees a
whole bundle of dollar signs. If she finds the painting, her fee would be enough to buy her
much dreamed of animal rescue farm.

There’s just one tricky bit, when she touches the writing of Clyde Owen Jones, the last man
to know the painting’s whereabouts, Angel feels a malevolence coming off the pages and
realizes Clyde was pure evil.

But the evil doesn’t remain with the dead, it’s here now, and it wants the same thing Angel
does—the Rembrandt and maybe her soul.

Can Tyreal the Private Investigator Angel found too hot not to hire and Viggo her guardian
angel, protect her from herself and Hell’s evil?

If I Loved You
Hollywood Hearts #1
by
Jean C Joachim

Does love always mean total truth? Successfully shunning the limelight was one way for Megan Davis to keep her family secret. The press intruded on her life when her twin brother, Mark, became the star quarterback for the Delaware Demons. Disrespectful of tabloid superstars, financial advisor, Meg, was shocked when she was tapped to launch a celebrity division in the prestigious investment firm, Dillon & Weed. The biggest surprise: the charisma of her first client.
Gorgeous, magnetic movie star, Chaz Duncan, wary of women who wanted to bask in his fame or sell his secrets to the media, valued privacy above all else. Would attractive Megan Davis, his new financial advisor charm the truth from him or would he continue his high profile but lonely existence to keep his secret safe? Jealousy, deceit and scandal threaten two careers and the quest for true love and trust in this roller-coaster-ride contemporary romance

I absolutely loved this book.  I love the characters & the storyline.  Absolutely amazing author that keeps me coming back for more of her books.  I almost feel like the people in her books are friends.  I've read several books by this author & can't wait to read more.
